  1. I have a three hour fasting period twice a day to take my cancer meds. It’s not so bad in the AM. The evening is hard. My spouse is on a different eating schedule than I am. So I either eat hot food when it’s cooked or eat reheated food when my 3 hour fasting period ends.

At least I’m looking at the grass from this side up.

Did 10,158 steps (or 4.5 miles) on the cross-trainer at PT today! It took 70 minutes. 🚴‍♂️

A misunderstanding with a friend got worked out this morning with no hard feelings. This makes me happy because he loves to swear as much as I do and I would have missed him 🥰 🤬

Another friend left a message that the surgeon is confident he removed ALL of her cancer! 😌 🙏

    Cool beans 😎

  3. Hubby is officially half way through his chemo treatments.

If you have a prostate, get it checked regularly!

  4. I remember back in the holidays when Grandma would debut her latest hand-knit sweaters. I used to think they were itchy, but now I’d give anything to wear one of her 'made with love' masterpieces again #cancercare #cancersucks #goodmorningedinburgh #omg

  5. Glad for the #olympics on tv right now. I’ve always enjoyed watching the winter sports.

It’s also something different for hubby and I to watch between tests, appointments, and upcoming treatments (prostate cancer).
Anyone out there either a prostate, get checked regularly.

  6. I sat on the phone with a friend while her heart broke for her dear one whom she ushered to the gates of heaven. I could do nothing to help in terms of the practical arrangements and things that needed to take place. But I could be present with her while she waited for those who'd come to gently remove his body. I counted it a privilege to be present and it felt holy to me. Rest in peace Bobby. I'm glad you suffer no more. #CancerSucks

  7. @austinnix @technocounselor Very sorry to read this. We exchanged Emails a few weeks ago and she didn’t mention anything negative. I know she fought really hard. #CancerSucks

  8. A few weeks ago I had a colonoscopy and five polyps were removed from me. One of those polyps contained cancerous cells. Thankfully, the cancer cells were isolated to the polyp. If that polyp wasn’t removed it would have evolved into colorectal cancer.

I dodged a bullet and I’m sharing this very personal news because I want to encourage you to be present to and intentional with your health. Cancer doesn’t care that you’re generally quite healthy. Cancer doesn't care if you have no family history of rogue cells. Cancer isn't personal.

Monitor yourself for unusual bumps, cysts and pains. Talk to a doctor about these things. When cancer cells are caught early lives are extended.

  10. With 48 min left in today (for me), I want to say I was declared cancer free 6 years ago today. And I am so here for another 6 y’all.

Luna helping me rest and recuperate.

  12. Current status: Relaxing by the window, sipping stool softener, and wearing a dress. Truly living the dream.

This week's adventure is recovering from a twofer surgery (number 9 since 2020), to repair some consequences of the last #cancer surgery in Feb/2024.

The softball size hernia and tennis ball size hydroseal I have been living with for the last year-ish seem to be on the mend ("your tummy is flat again!" -my lovely bride).

Oscar (my #ostomy), is back to making inappropriate noises and so the docs are advancing me to semi-solid foods today. After the ileus (and subsequent NG tube), last time I pushed back on the team and slowed them down to avoid a repeat.

Today's goal is to shower with actual warm water - very exciting.

If things continue as they have, Frankie the Foley should come out tomorrow and home Tuesday to start mentally and physically preparing for three weeks of radiation to try and shrink the pelvic tumors first week of July.

  13. A good one to read and share - on how we talk about cancer, and how it affects our approaches to it, our conception and even our experience.
Battle metaphors are old and unhelpful, and we could do more to move on.

  15. Retaining walls coming along nicely after a small break for 10 days of radiation to my lung to nuke a small-ish 11mm tumor - #FuckCancer - needed another week after to recover. The #cancer doing what cancer does, growing and spreading. Did I mention that #CancerSucks ?

Next up is laying and tamping a yard each of base and then DG (decomposed granite), for Luna's "runway" against the deer fence. And 5 yards of river rock in between the retaining walls. Materials arrive this week!

  16. Have you seen Apple Cider Vinegar on Netflix? I could relate. But if you're facing cancer, know many of us live. Be brave. You're not alone.

Our family lost a dear member on Wednesday. She had just turned 48 in August. She was my wife's niece.

A 2 1/5 year fight against colon cancer--I don't know the specifics, but she and her family weren't about sharing every detail of the process along the way.

My gut tells me she stopped treatments.

She was a teacher, a mother of twin girls who were hard won, as her husband had severe kidney disease when they were first married. Infact, her mother donated one of her's to him.

She was a high school Spanish teacher, very smart and talented at teaching.

It's a huge loss to our family.

Her cancer was not found early enough.

    GET YOURSELF CHECKED.
