I'm actually enjoying my experience over at Apple Music. The app is nearly frictionless, the UX is pleasing, and its recommendations are spot on since I imported my playlists. I'm finding it easier to discover new music. And the feeling that artists are getting paid a little more and that I'm not supporting Spotify's other ethical issues is nice.
It's missing a few QoL features that Spotify had finally gotten. But those are all manageable.

I was in the top 85th percentile of Spotify listeners in 2023, and that was with taking a few months off to try Tidal. I listened to Spotify nearly every waking moment only two years ago.
So this is no small change for me. And maybe statistically significant for them.

I used Soundiiz to do the transfer, with a a $5/mo subscription for the time it took me to move my playlists. There were hundreds! [225 to be exact.] I may have a music hoarding problem. 😂
Anyone who has followed me for years will know what a big deal this is.

Here it is.
A lot of work to get to this point. But I was driven to it.
My public playlists will still be available there, but I will not be updating them on Spotify. I will be updating them on Apple Music, but they're not public by default and I have to manually set each one, so that will take some time.

I did it! I finally canceled my Spotify subscription! My values do not align with Spotify's and haven't done so for years and years. We canceled our #Spotify family subscription. We told them that we canceled in protest of their running ICE ads. We are long time #Spotify users & huge music fans We are using our economic power to say NO #CancelSpotify #BoycottSpotify #ICE needs to get out of our communities now.

Spotify doesn't just screw musicians, it takes money from ICE. If I were using Spotify I'd cancel it until the ICE ads are removed. Streaming hate is a choice and I refuse to fund it. https://app.sosha.ai/s/sdAnUf5T

@Joyoussinger Thank you for taking this stand. While I know platforms are no friend to artists (certainly in remuneration), I'm sure this decision has an impact on you.
I don't know if there are alternatives that are much better for artists?
(A few years ago, I cancelled Spotify for Joe Rogan reasons in favour of Deezer, but I don't know if they're all that better..?)

Le mouvement #CancelSpotify semble bien lancé. Il est même possible de faire passer son désabonnement par le site www.spotify.com/us/signed-ou... afin qu'il soit comptabilisé comme un geste politique (pas besoin de filer votre mp, bien sûr)

I finally deleted my Spotify and Instagram accounts. I should have sooner but forgot about then. I'm sad you cant say "for supporting fascism for profit" as my reason.

It's outrageous that Spotify is running ICE ads. I'm moving to another streaming platform that doesn't profit from exploiting artists while recruiting for ICE. #CancelSpotify
