Ellie Chowns @EllieChownsMEP clearly asked Whittome to clarify why she turned and her only response is to say not speaking for govt.
@carladenyerFeels like MPs have been bullied to accept what sound like vague little sops, without saying publicly what they are. Whittome was wrong about #CANbill being a floor, not a ceiling - it's an adequate envelope.
So with Government encouraging actual airport expansion(!), have to hold them account. Some MPs may show some backbone. #CANBill

During the #CANBill debate @carladenyer is speaking well, revealing the proposer Roz Savage has been bought off with a last-minute deal. (Looked like there was an attempt to filibuster it with a government statement too.)
A framework consistent with scientific understanding of sustainability and with international agreement still needs proper debate. Letting the bill progress to committee would do that.
Roz Savage stated had to co-operate with government. Nadia Whittome also backtracking.
