@randahl - well, the US is currently a puppet regime of Putin's and is only putting forward terms that serve Russia, not Ukraine.
And maybe I should take out the word 'currently' - as past US governments did not honour agreements in the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. To protect Ukraine against aggression. Didn't happen in Crimea. Didn't happen 4 years ago.

the #budapestMemorandum was a flimsy document with no security guarantees

i'm not letting the west off the hook

whatever the nature of the document, the west's tepid response to the invasion of #ukraine by #russia is disgusting

but there is a common misunderstanding of strong guarantees in the budapest memorandum that do not exist

in fact it feels a little like #kremlin disinfo:

the redirection of anger at #theWest instead of where it belongs, directed at #moscow
