Des ombres sur le foyer de Judith Merril, traduit par Alexane Bébin, ed. Argyll

Réédition d'un roman de 1950 (ou plutôt de 1966, celui de 1950 étant sorti censuré !) : les premiers jours après que les USA soient touchés par une bombe nucléaire. Touchant, bien rythmé, intelligent. Profondément anti-impérialiste et antimilitariste.

Surtout, des perspectives rares :

1. On suit une femme au foyer de 37 ans et ses deux filles. Rien que ça, c'est beaucoup. Les hommes sont des personnages secondaires (variés et réalistes ceci dit, de *bons* personnages secondaires).

2. Quasi toute l'histoire se déroule dans la maison, "le danger enfermé dehors et la peur enfermée dedans". Ce n'est pas l'histoire des héros, ni des antihéros, ni des soldats, ni des rebelles. C'est ce que bon nombre de gens, réalistement, pourraient vivre. Sans formation, sans information que la propagande, sans capacité militaire ou scientifique pertinente, surveillés et isolés. Confinés.

3. Elles doivent continuer à préparer les repas. S'inquiéter de l'eau chaude. Raconter les histoires à la petite avant le coucher. Bref, quand l'extraordinaire arrive, le quotidien ne disparaît pas. La charge mentale ne disparaît pas avec l'incertitude de la survie du monde.

4. Sans spoiler car je vous encourage vivement à le lire, le roman montre comment des gens ordinaires peuvent agir pour la paix, non pas en frappant plus fort que les méchants, mais en tendant la main et en "étendant la définition du foyer" comme le formule @DoctriZ dans sa postface.

21. Ghost in the shell. Stand Alone Complex #1 (Yu Kinutani). Aunque soy de la generación que vio llegar el manga a España nunca fui un lector demasiado asiduo. Aún así sí que seguí varias colecciones y la que más me marcó fue Appleseed de Masamune Shirow (de la que llevo demasiado tiempo esperando con ansia un integral que lo reedite con la calidad que se merece). Años después leí Ghost in the shell y mi flechazo con Shirow ya fue total. De ahí que cualquier otra obra de sus universos firmadas por otros autores siempre me diese un poco de pereza. Finalmente me he lanzado a leer Stand Alone Complex que, aunque tiene sus problemas (por ejemplo, la representación de los personajes femeninos pero siendo justos es algo que con Shirow también pasa), me ha resultado una lectura bastante amena. Lo suficiente para tener ganas de comprar el siguiente tomo, que no es poco.

19. Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0 (Mike Pondsmith).
Hacerse mayor es, a todas luces, una mierda. Dejas de ver bien de cerca, te duele la espalda y vas perdiendo poco a poco el contacto con la gente. Pero a veces te resarces un poquito dándote algún capricho que de adolescente no te pudiste permitir. Ese es mi caso con Cyberpunk, un juego que siempre me llamó la atención pero que nunca tuve porque la paga daba por lo que daba y que finalmente llegó a mis manos como regalo por mi cuarenta y tantos cumpleaños. Leer un juego ambientado en un 2020 futuro tal y como se lo imaginaban en 1990 ahora que hemos ya no alcanzado sino sobrepasado esa fecha es una experiencia apasionante. Por un lado te encuentras con la ingenuidad en algunas predicciones (los móviles prácticamente no existen, Internet es algo muy ligado a terminales fijos, las noticias online se parece más a una BBS que a una web) pero por otro te deprimes al ver cómo han clavado la realidad distópica y tardocapitalista que nos ha tocado con unas corporaciones todopoderosas y una sociedad cada vez más desigual. El conjunto termina siendo un término medio bastante curioso entre el retrofuturismo y el cyberpunk. En el improbable caso de que llevase este juego a mesa no tengo ninguna duda de que lo haría con esta ambientación del 2020 en lugar de irme a la edición nueva que la ha avanzado hasta el 2045.
