@kaffeeringe @BjoernBeck Habe als einen der ersten Schritte mal meine Hörbücher in MP3 in die #Nextcloud gelegt, damit die Familie was davon hat. Da ich keine Nextcloud App für #Hörbücher gefunden habe, musste ein Player mit den erforderlichen Features her (mehrere Bücher auf Vorrat laden, Lesezeichen merken). Auf iOS nichts kostenfreies gefunden, was auf Dateibasis „denkt und arbeitet“. Die kostenpflichtigen lassen meist nicht kostenfrei testen. Außer #Bookplayer… /2

One feature I think is missing from #BookPlayer, and also seems to have been removed from #Audible, is a playback queue. Sometimes, I do want to have another book automatically start playing after the current one ends. In BookPlayer's case, placing the books in a folder doesn't help, unless I combine all of the folders contents into a single volume but at that point I no longer have distinct books.

I've gotta say, the #BookPlayer app for iOs looks very slick. Its free, and supports M4b. SO I start my migration away from VoiceDream. I had a fantastic 10 ish years with this app, but now its just crashing too much.

Speaking of getting away from billionaires, let’s talk about #books ! (#audiobooks, specifically)

I have been on #audible almost since the beginning, long before amazon snatched them up. I have wanted to de-amazon my life but this was a tough step.

I want to give high praise to two applications.

#libation is an open-source app which allows you to get the library *you paid for* free of DRM so you can use it how you need. It’s ugly as sin (which the developer admits!) as it’s developed by a single person. But it *works* and gets the job done. I happily donated and I think others should, too.

But once you have the files, you need to play them. Let’s be honest, the audible iOS app is pretty good for this, but you need to be in their ecosystem.

Enter #BookPlayer , another open-source app which lets you play arbitrary audiobooks on iOS. It’s constantly updated, the library is pretty, and the functionality is good. There’s no watch playback (yet), but it’s on the developer’s roadmap.
