"The #festival of #Shavuot is, in many ways, the calm, quiet relation of the #Torah prescribed #festivals.
From a Torah perspective it is simply the date, 50 days after #Pesach on which the first wheat loaves of the new season were brought to the #BeitHamikdash.
Only through a set of calculations, not specifically tied to the festival in the Torah, do we know that it occurs when #Israel experienced the #Sinaiticrevelation.
But as is so often the case in #Judaism, custom stepped in where law left a vacuum. Hence while today its key identifying practice is #Torahstudy – #TikkunLeilShavuot – on the night of Shavuot, Shavuot also has its gastronomic aspect.
Regarding #food, one of the best-known customs of Shavuot is the eating of #dairy foods at the #holiday meals or during the nighttime study sessions. #Cheesecake and cheese #blintzes have become beloved and fattening Shavuot staples in #Jewish homes for centuries. Why?"

Time for #cheese #blintzes and #celery root soda at #BarneyGreengrass

Made some #blintzes for belated #Shavuot. The dairy is symbolic of the #Torah we received at Mount Sinai.
Here's the (gluten-free) recipe, which was perfect! https://glutenfreeonashoestring.com/gluten-free-blintzes/

Cheese blintz with blackberry sauce, using @seriouseats blender batter crepes, with the @veselkanyc recipe for the filling and the inspiration. I didn’t have matzah meal handy, so I used panko instead and that worked fine. This was super delicious, and knowing how to make this falls under dangerous knowledge. #dessert #blintzes #blackberry #cooking

Since the Sivan celebration will be held around dinnertime, delicious dairy and vegan dinners will be served outdoors.
Enjoy #blintzes, #lasagna, #kezadas, and of course, plenty of #IceCream! Shomer treyf students may eat their dinners at the separate table with a yellow tablecloth.
I know we’re all going to have a great day, and Chag Sameach to EVERYONE!
