While driving home from doing errands I saw this big guy picnicking

Merlin identified him as a red tail. But he is big!!!

I think he was injured because he let me get real close. I contacted every org I could think of but no one answered. Hopefully animal control stepped up

Yesterdays Volunteer work day was great. It was cool! (34℃ most of the time) with a good breeze. Very unusual. It looks like we will be back at the 39℃ line for the next two weeks - ack.

Another migrant that will soon depart south, one of my favorites. Hard to find, but vocal, and will respond if you talk to it - crazy I know, but I talk to with the birds and with the trees.

Heute war ich mal im Helenental unterwegs. Mind. 10 Eisvögel gesehen (davon gleich am Anfang 3 auf einmal), alle zu schnell unterwegs für Fotos.

Dann sehr viele Gebirgsstelzen, zwei Wasseramseln, Sumpfmeisen und einige Enten.

Jetzt beim Durchsehen der Bilder bin ich draufgekommen, dass ich eine Fotosequzenz hab, bei der eine Gebirgsstelze einen Grasshüpfer mit Saitenwurm so lange ins Wasser tunkt, bis der Saitenwurm komplett raus war 😳

Good morning everyone 🌞 It looks like the sun is trying to come out today after a lot of rain overnight. The #parrots are all munching First Breakfast after Ziggy came out long enough for me to take her to the couch, her to wrestle a cardboard tube from her toy box to the floor and then for her to demand I take her back to her cage 😊 She is currently at her wet food bowl making little growls of pleasure as she finds the bits she likes. She's become really good at going to that bowl first now, while Jadie, of course, continues to ignore hers. I have even tried putting black grapes, her absolutely favourite fruit, into it, but all to no avail. Fresh food needs to be put onto her flat perch or it simply doesn't exist 😂 #petsofmastodon #birdsofmastodon #BirdsOfFediverse #goodmorning

Good morning you lovely lot 💕 The #parrots are cleaned and fed and I have #coffee. To start your morning here is a photo of Jadie rocking the punk look after having a bath in her water bowl the other day 😊 As you can see she is quite capable of using her ropes to access her bowls if she wants to - she just chooses not to when it comes to her food. We spray the parrots with a warm misting spray every two days. Ziggy generally has a bath in her water bowl every time. Jadie only does it every now and then, but when she does she really goes to town! #petsofmastadon #birdsofmastadon #BirdsOfFediverse #goodmorning

I ended up playing #Skyrim yesterday morning and only worked on the custom #crochet #toy in the afternoon, but a new order came in last night so I am going to have to really make today a #crochetday I think. Or maybe half and half again ..I'll see 😉

Good morning everyone 🌻 Long lie for me today as Grant is going out on an #RSPB work party at the local wetlands this morning. It's a lovely, bright day for it right enough. He told me that Jadie hasn't been eating this morning, but then I saw he had put a load of pomegranate seeds in her bowl. I removed them and she's eating fine now. Jadie is such a special #parrot, being a rescue, and you have to be so careful with her food or she will just refuse to eat. I think her beak is still a little sensitive too after being shaped yesterday. The vet said the scissor bit may have been digging into her tongue a little so they had to trim it right down. She's happily doing "Pchew! Pchew! Wraaagh!" now though so all good 😊 #parrots #petsofmastodon #birdsofmastodon #BirdsOfFediverse #goodmorning

Good Moo everyone 🌞 Ziggy had a long hand cuddle with me this morning, to the point where I started to get pins and needles in my fingers. She likes to tuck herself up like that with her head upside down and makes little purring noises of contentment 😊 Now all of the #parrots are munching happily away with Ziggy definitely going to her veggie bowl more often now and declaring that it is "good!". I made some fresh chop and red pepper hummus for them yesterday and I think she is quite keen on the hummus. I still can't get Jadie to go near her wet bowl though. I have a little plastic bowl from one of their travel cages that I might try and attach high up when I give them their fruit later and see how she reacts. #PetsofMastodon #BirdsOfFediverse #BirdsofMastodon #GoodMorning

Grant likes to have a snooze on the couch after he has cleaned and fed them, and the crew apparently take objection to this; well the Hahns Macaws anyway.
