And this is another species of ichneumonid wasp, seen yesterday. There are so many, they're often hard to ID.

My iNat expert friends suggest sub-family Campopleginae, & perhaps genus Hyposoter.

H didymator is an excellent pattern fit, but extremely rare: only 3 iNat & GBIF sightings in DE 😱

A couple of mysteries.

First, this little black fly is very likely in genus Hebecnema according to both iNat & ObsIdentify.

The close eyes say it's a male & looking at the visible features, it might be one of H affinis, H vespertina, or H nigra.

All rarely observed in DE on iNat.

But 🤷‍♂️

This cranefly was probably regretting its life choices this afternoon, likely having blundered into a spider, although I couldn't spot one.

The thorax & wing markings, as well as the time of year, strongly suggest Tipula confusa (🇩🇪 Gefleckte Herbstschnake).
