  1. Two rainbow lorikeets share a quiet moment on a bare branch, their brilliant plumage glowing against a soft winter sky. A flash of colour and companionship found in Brimbank Park, Victoria. 🦜

  6. There is this strange, repetitive, deep wooing going on outside the window, like a introverted foghorn going off. Never misses a beat. What a rhythm!

    I believe it's actually a bird, a Common Bronzewing.

Oh! a brief pause, then he's joined by his missus. Deep whooing in tandem now.

  9. 60 year-old pet Corella Australian parrot is perched upon my wife’s shoulder.

Present owner has looked after her for the last 23 years. Prior to that she was part of Greek family and speaks Greek as a first language but has also learned English quite well too.

    A much loved pet.

  10. Here’s another sulphur crested #cockatoo sitting on the barbecue tray just outside the lounge, looking in and observing everything that goes on in here.

  11. @mybirdcards

This is a male King Parrot called Ptarquin, with a silent P.
He doesn’t like his name in fact he’s never liked it and he wants a new one; preferably as suggested by you folks on Mastodon!

  12. Frogmouth owl sitting in the casuarina tree, Northeast suburban Melbourne.
A difficult heavily backlit shot that required me to boost the saturation and exposure to show up the owls subtle colouration.

  13. The evening before, at the Gingin Roadhouse, where we were staying, this Australian Ringneck, orTwenty-Eight was very co-operative and took time out from feeding on nuts for their close-up.

  14. A view across a clearing in the banksia woodland that makes up most of the bush around Gingin. We have a very wide coastal plain here in #Perth , and get a lot of different ecologies within it!

  15. Another W.A. classic - the Grey Fantail.

Rarely still, these tiny insectivores flitter and dart about almost constantly.

  16. First up is some #AustralianBirdlife in the form of a Brown Honeyeater.

These little birds are one of the smaller honeyeaters, and probably the smallest in W.A.
