Second #BalconyPidgey baby blob left the nest yesterday early evening approximately 24h after it's sibling. I just spotted it in the tree near my balcony, completely soaked through since it's raining all night and morning. #pigeonContent #birdcontent

The first baby left the nest! 🥳 But it immediately got attacked by a crow 😱 Parent came to the rescue asap but then I couldn't see them anymore. I'm worried 😬 That's why I never encourage my crows near my balcony. #BalconyPidgey #pigeonContent #birdcontent

The little blobs aren't so little anymore and probably leave the nest within days now. Still squeaky and begging for food 🤣 And that's how close the parents let me come. Or rather come close to me as I was just sitting here as all evening and #BalconyPidgey landed there and stayed. #pigeonContent #birdcontent

Brave baby! It hopped right back in the nest in less time I need to post this 😆 That was scary enough!!
Something makes the adults a bit nervous this evening. They fly in and out all the time.

#BalconyPidgey family photo! The little blobs grow so fast! Their adult plumage starts to come through and they spend a lot of time with preening along with wing training (and hissing at me).
I was considering if I reinstall the livestream this weekend, but since I need to attatch the camera again after winter I'll wait until the little blobs leave the nest. The next chicks will come certainly after all. #pigeonContent #birdcontent -
#BalconyPidgey whenever a crow flies past: "Coo! Coo!! Alarm!! Get thee gone from my door!"
Same pidgey when the much more dangerous predator (hoomin, me) is much closer: "Oh look, those are my little Marshmallows. Take your time with the photos."
I love them 🙈
The little blobs are now too big to fit under the parents anymore. They still huddle against them, it's so adorable! They also start training their wings by flapping wildly and slapping everyone around them.

#BalconyPidgey baby blob tax. You can see that the parents don't really sit on the nest anymore but rather stand over the babys, while they cuddle into the parents fluff. They also pump themselves up and hiss at me from under the fluff 🤣 The parents are much chiller.
With every new brood the parents tend to build the nest a little bit more to the left. I probably need to place some stones into the other side of the planter to counter the weight soon 🤔

I'm done!! 🥳 I so love how it turned out, despite hating the backstitching lol. Not sure yet how to hang it in my Wall yet, since I have a set of three of those kits and have to see what fits them best. I'll see.

#BalconyPidgey baby blob tax. I think the right one is the younger one. It was falling asleep as I took the photo 🥹😍

Made one or two new friends here. Some where brave enough to eat from my hand when I bowed down on their level.
If it weren't for the damn brat chasing the pigeons 🤬 #pidgeonContent #birdcontent

Done with the cross stitch! Now left is the backstitching and I absolutely do not feel that today 🙈🌸

Manon is hanging around again! First at the nest, now down here. Didn't know planters are a natural habitat for wood pigeons 🤣 #BalconyPidgey #pigeonContent #birdcontent 🪶

Apparently juvenile #BalconyPidgey is now part of the inventory. I named it Manon, inspired by my bestie 🤣 Manon sat at the snack bar for quite a while, but then got a good beating from the adult currently not on the nest. Manon begged to be fed but ultimately had to leave. #pigeonContent #birdcontent

I'm watching a couple starlings from my balcony and one of them is singing enthusiasticly and immitating a couple other birds. I could identify blackbird and oriole. Starlings are not only incredibly beautiful but also incredibly talented singers! #birding #birdcontent

The #birding highlights today were among my usual residents the blackcap, serin finch and a nightingale. Very happy to lock them ❤️ #birdcontent 🪶

Thr juvenile is back! It makes baby noises at #BalconyPidgey tho it's able to eat on it's own. It still pecks at the snack bar from time to time, weird invisible force field 🤣 It took a little moment to figure out to eat on Monday but by watching the adult feeding at the time it worked! #pigeonContwnt #birdContent

Oh no! Over the Artemis excitement I forgot to share the newest #BalconyPidgey news 😱 When I came back on Monday from my little Easter gardening adventures, I immediately refilled the snack bar. The pigeon currently on nest duty immediately came down to gobble down the food and it's partner almost as quickly spawned out of nowhere. It's not like they are wild animals that can care for themselves perfectly well, they acted as if they were starting 🤣 But the real cool thing: Almost as quickly a juvenile wood pigeon joined them! It targeted my balcony as if it knew about it and interacted with the adults in a very familiar way. My pigeons have started nisting very early in the last years, last year it was already in February! This year it was quite late, we now have April and it's their first brood of the season. Is it tho? Since they were so late this year I had considered that they might have made a nest somewhere else, but then they returned to my balcony and I discarded the idea. But now with the juvenile appearing, I'm wondering if they indeed had a brood somewhere else this year already 🤔 That would mean that the chicks currently incubating are already number 29&30 😱
Also: pidgey just sneezed while I was typing this and oh my god 😍
