- Bike Plus Vision Network still aims for rapid build-out
- Columbus is still committed to #VisionZero
- Colubmus plans to ban parking and loading in bike lanes -

If you run a group, the city is willing to talk to your group about #BikePlus! Ask them to come present: [email protected]
Q: Are you reaching out to bus riders? They often use bikes and scooters for last-mile.
A: Yes, and you're not the only person to suggest that.
-
Q: Was there a maintenance plan as part of the 2008 plan?
A: Not as part of the old plan, but developing one is part of the #BikePlus effort.
Q: Since we haven't had an updated plan for the last while, does that mean that we've missed out on funding opportunities?
Stevie: Bikes haven't been a priority for the city until now, really. So there's a lot of funding opportunities that were never applied for.
A: But goal is to have the connected network.
-
Q: Does #BikePlus have a similar level of support from City Council that Councilmember Rob Dorans has given to the Zoning Code Update plan, saying that they _will_ pass whatever is recommended?
A: We don't have a plan yet, so we can't speak for who supports it. But Council President Hardin and Councilmember Lourdes Barroso de Padilla have voiced strong support for this effort.
Stevie notes that those two council members will be coming to a #TransitColumbus meeting "in the near future"
-
Q: What's the scope of funding?
A: #BikePlus isn't funding to implement the plan. But once we have the adopted plan, outlining what we want and where, then we'll be able to get funding.
-
Q: What is the "plus" in #BikePlus ?
A: "Bikeways and Micromobility Plan" doesn't roll off the tongue; the "plus" is meant to capture biking, skating, skateboarding, scooting, ebikes — but not cars, or really even sidewalks and pedestrians.
Q: Skating?
A: To be inclusive of all forms of active mobility. 🤷
-
Q from Ryan Branch: Does #BikePlus have a goal in its planning?
A: Yes; Bike Plus has specific deliverables.
Q from Stevie Pasamonte: But does it have goals like a specific mileage of protected bike lanes?
A: We have protection-mileage goals from Vision Zero 2.0 Plan. But we're also still collecting community feedback to determine what we should be driving for in Bike Plus.

How can you stay involved in #BikePlus?
After the survey completes, they'll have a map that people can mark up. There will be focus groups, too.
In the spring, there will be a #charrette (an active workshop) where planners come together to hash out the map and the 5-year plan, and have open office hours for the public.
After the charrette, they'll have more-solid recommendations, with more public meetings to review the initial drafts. #BikeTooter #Columbus

Who is #BikePlus for?
- Everyone!
- Also the 50% of riders who are "Interested but concerned" who don't like riding in traffic
- The Vision Zero "Communities of Interest" which were chosen based on historic disinvestment, impoverishment, majority-minority status, limited transportation options: https://columbus.maps.arcgis.com/apps/instant/sidebar/index.html?appid=5b15e540edcb4180a34702916fd1eccc"Biking to work twice per month would let us meet our climate goals."
-
Even though #BikePlus doesn't extend outside of #Columbus, there are other municipalities in #MORPC, and all contribute their facilities to keep this map updated: https://morpc.maps.arcgis.com/apps/instant/basic/index.html?appid=38c3354989eb436184e41803fcabda7d
