I'm fairly new here, and loving this #tunetuesday thing that's going on. I've come across some covers on here that I've not heard before and it makes my heart happy to find new #music to love.
Another #bettercover that I just simply adore is "Man Who Sold the World" by Nirvana from 1993. Original by David Bowie, released in 1970. Don't get me wrong I DO really like the original. I just much prefer this version 😍 -

As much as I love, even worship, The Wipers, I think that Melvins version of "Youth of America" is a #BetterCover. It's faithful to the original, but just punchier and better sounding.

I've long held the opinion that if I were a musical artist and Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings covered one of my songs, I'd probably just stop performing it because they always seem to make their covers markedly better than the originals. And I say this as I lifelong Janet Jackson fan who loves the original.

This week's Tune Tuesday theme is Better Cover, a song where the cover is better than the original. I have to go with "Alone" by Heart. I think a lot of people don't know it was a cover, originally released by i-Ten in 1983, which Heart took to an entirely different level.

I'll suggest a cover of a cover or, more precisely, a somewhat bizarre but altogether excellent Spanish-language translation/norteña transposition of a cover (by NOFX) of a fine punk tune (Rancid's "Olympia, WA") that appeared online in 2015 (if you're looking for some distraction, read up on it).

Today's #TuneTuesday theme - from @lil_meow_meow - is incredibly hard!
We're after a #BetterCover - a cover that improves on the original. But the crux of a great cover is that there's a great song underpinning it.
Turisas's cover of Rasputin by Boney M? Awesome, wonderful take, but better? I love both. Same with Paradise Lost doing Walk Away by the Sisters of Mercy, or the Sisters doing Jolene, or Therapy? doing Diane by Husker Du.
After some consideration, I'm opting for Ghost's cover of Crucified by Army of Lovers. I love both of them, but I'm impressed by the degree to which Ghost turn up the sleaze on a song that's already pretty redolent in it.

My Bloody Valentine's version of Wire's Map Ref 41°N 93°W - The Wire track is brilliant (as is pretty much everything they've done, mind you), but I love what MBV brings to it.

The theme for #TuneTuesday today is #BetterCover - a song for which the cover is better, allowing for personal taste and the fact we all like different things.
For me, the industrial flavour, distortion, noise, and extra energy from the 1000 Homo DJs version of Black Sabbath's Supernaut is what makes it better than the original.
