  1. #MoritzVonOswald

  2. I remember seeing a video with clips from interviews with people at an old-school outdoor rave somewhere in the British countryside in the 1990s and there was a tweaky and charming young lady rather passionately explaining something to the effect that while people say that #techno is repetitive, the thing about it is if you really listen, it's music that almost never repeats itself at all -- it's like always doing something different. I think about that a lot, especially when I listen to #BasicChannel

  3. #BasicChannel are not easy to reason or write about but this article by #RobArcand does a great job. Basic Channel were sometimes talked about in hushed tones in the 90s amongst techno DJs and in magazines slike #JockeySlut because the duo were so enigmatic and uncompromising. You were never really sure which track of which release you were listening to and you could drift off into a trance. Anyway if you love them you’ll love this and if you’re new then “welcome!” pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/b

One of my favourite albums, which got me hooked on dub-techno. I ended up buying most of the Basic Channel albums.

  5. #MoritzvonOswald started the legendary Berlin record shop Hardwax and through it the influential #BasicChannel record label along with Mark Ernestus. His output over the years has always asked the right questions in whatever form they took. This recording is no exception seeing him mix a 16 voice choir with his varied synths and electronics attempting to find shared textural space. It’s a fascinating experiment that forges some beautiful sonic structures. tresorberlin.bandcamp.com/albu

  6. It’s nice to see this #Monolake album reissued. It’s the earliest incarnation of this seminal electronic group of #RobertHenke & #GerhardBehles. This is music that I’d wish those who love the shoegaze would discover, there are more than a few parallels in this sound. Monolake and the entire #BasicChannel #ChainReaction output from the mid to late 90’s. #DubTechno roberthenke.bandcamp.com/album

  7. Animist | .Vril-Really excellent #techno here from this German producer. Heavy on the loop driven, dissonant mids that create a very disorienting listen. There’s a lot bouncing around in that section of the mix and it really draws me in sonically speaking. Definite #BasicChannel influence if you’re into such influences and I definitely am. This a unique take on that style that deviates enough to make it something it’s own. vrilofficial.bandcamp.com/albu

  8. live | cv313 | echospace [detroit]

echospacedetroit.bandcamp.com/ New cv313 is always a welcome sonic surprise. Here are two long communique's from this producer that I'm sure are worth one’s time. I'm here for it. Edit: I’ve only listened to track two and it was largely a drone laden trip with little in the way of rhythmic underpinnings. Relatively heavy with very thick clouds of fuzz and dust kicked up on the hour plus journey. #DubTechno #DubTechno #BasicChannel #HardWax
