CW: [Q] Synchronized electrical cardioversion
How painful is it?
Cardiologist suggesting synchronized electrical cardioversion to reset some persistent atrial fibrillation. Basically the shock or shocks) are synchronized to the R wave of the QRS complex on the ECG.
They tell me they use mild sedation and someone needs to drive me home. I generally don’t like sedation and have a high tolerance for pain — I feel pain it just doesn’t bother me much.

There has been a certain amount of upset in the household this morning.
Sacha suffers from Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) - there's no debating that, but she's becoming obsessive (in my opinion, not hers) about what her Smartwatch is telling her about her heart rhythm.
I fear that the constant watch watching is creating a form of anxiety that is causing further heart irregularities - a vicious circle.
She didn't go to her exercise class because of the AF, but she has gone to her U3A meeting, so I'm off there on the bus later to take her for her x-ray.We are talking again.
