  1. Has anyone got a good system for getting non-Android Auto ready apps to show on a vehicle infotainment screen? I'm running #Android 16 on a #Pixel9Pro and would like to get #APRSDroid and some other apps to show up. Fermata and AAAD did not work for me.

  6. Biking to the ARROW field day site at the Ann Arbor Airport soccer fields. On APRS for the occasion (via APRSDroid) as W8EMV-9

  7. Anyone know how to set #APRSDroid to pass/receive messages from a specific group? When connected to APRS -IS. I've tried setting "filter g/FEDI" but that doesn't seem to work

  8. @M0PWX @ARISS_Intl
Because of your toots, I just tried #APRS myself on a low #ISS pass too with just a handled radio and #aprsdroid .
I believe I messed up the message I should have sent. :thaenkin:
Will try again on next pass.

  9. I can run #aprsdroid on my old android head unit for the car. Along with the #Lanchonlh #HGUV98
I might be able to #APRS #messages but responding while driving would be bad.

  14. APRS map from my #BicycleMobile operations this morning on the Lakelands Trail State Park starting at Stockbridge, MI. This is using #APRSDroid to send spots.

  15. Looking at doing #APRS #BicycleMobile, through some kind of interface to one of the radios I already own. I have #APRSDroid for my Android phone.

    Two options:

A friend from the ARROW club has a rather well used #Mobilinkd Bluetooth #TNC. (It needs a few parts and maybe a repair, but I think I can make it work.)

I see on Amazon and AliExpress an APRS-K1 cable, which would handle getting audio levels right to plug into the audio jack on an Android phone and the K plug for my HT.

  16. @gm4slv Oh yes the #TweedRide was good fun! Nice to see people dressed up.

Part of the route was on a bicycle trail by the river here, scenic and flat and no cars. The "Border to Border Trail" is the name, the plan underway is for it to go from one end of the county to the other.

Along the river is apparently an APRS dead zone here, I have been doing #APRS on my cell phone with #APRSDroid but want to try it via RF as well to see what the actual coverage is.

    W8EMV-9:

  17. CW: APRS-IS, bicycle mobile

Operated APRS-IS through APRSDroid on my bike ride home from downtown #AnnArbor. See the track from W8EMV-9 on aprs.fi

    aprs.fi/#!mt=roadmap&z=15&ts=1

The route I took (to avoid Michigan home game football traffic, #goblue ) took 19 minutes, and I got home just before sunset at 510p.

I heard the tail end of a QSO on #Fedihams via my Pi-Star hotspot from about a block away, but it ended before I got a chance to check in.

  18. CW: APRS, bicycle mobile

A nice bicycle outing to downtown Ann Arbor, before it got dark. Sunset is at 515p today so I really need to not delay when it's time to come home.

Tracking on APRS using APRSDroid on my Android phone, see the track for W8EMV-9 which looks quite accurate to the path I actually took.

Would I like to do this all via RF on 2 meters, of course! Not finding any super obvious low cost option though.

  19. Proof of work for #APRS route, station W8EMV-9. I'm using #APRSdroid .

APRSdroid is an Android application for Amateur Radio operators. It allows reporting your position to the APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System) network, displaying of nearby amateur radio stations and the exchange of APRS messages.

APRSdroid is Open Source Software written in Scala and licensed under the GPLv2.

(Scala! I did not know that.)

  20. #APRSDroid seems to be sending messages over BlueTooth and RF though I never see it actually transmit. However WiFi is off, so it has no other way to contact the internet. I can’t seem to get position reporting to work.

  21. Also there is a GPS ham radio tracking app called #aprsDroid and you can actually use it with a kiss TNC like tiny trak 4 without needing Bluetooth if you connect the USB directly with a USBC adapter and a USB to serial adapter. The one trick I needed to make it work was to click the start tracking button before plugging in the power to the tiny trak, but after plugging in the USB to serial adapter. I have no idea why, but that's what I needed to do.
