The Ham Radio 13 Colonies Special Event starts today!
The students of the Villanova Amateur Radio Club VUARC W3YP are operating a Bonus Station from Philadelphia WM3PEN (“William Penn”) on the satellites. 🛰️
We will mainly be operating on RS-44 🛰️passes today, then Monday through Friday next week.

The students of the Villanova University Amateur Radio Club are operating W3YP remotely over the internet.
So far, we have made some local 2m FM contacts and some satellite contacts 🛰️(FO-29). The upcoming RS-44 pass should be promising.
Overnight we may do some digital FT8 contacts on 20m band.

This is one of the GPS trackers on the balloon. 🎈It transmits on the standard #APRS frequency of 144.39 MHz into a twin lead J-pole antenna. The Raspberry Pi Pico reads the BME280 (temperature, pressure, humidity, altitude) and MPU6050 (gyro and accelerometer) sensors. The transmitter is an SR_FRS_0V5 FM module that transmits 500 mW. The PCB is a #CubeSatSim Beta V2 board. The GPS is a LC76G with a dipole antenna.
