This is a fully open source design, using modern methods and innovative solutions.
Far superior voice quality and no clunky second "packet mode" for data.

This open source hardware and software project runs on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2W and transmits realistic satellite telemetry in the 70cm ham radio band.

Weekend projects. Setting up a small 76cm dish for easier portable use (than my 1.2m behemoth). Alignment on a Ku band geostationary satellite beacon (Galaxy 18), and now working on a printed bracket for the W1GHZ 10/24 GHz feed horn.

I finally released the v2.2 software for CubeSatSim, the AMSAT CubeSat Simulator. This release was way too much work. It had too many bug fixes and new features. I need to push releases more frequently, as testing took forever and I kept finding bugs.
I’m very happy with the release. Combined with having more CubeSatSim Lites available, it is an important step for the project!

What a blast to make contact with the ISS despite the historic medical evacuation of Crew 11 and snow and ice storms on either side of today.
Chris Williams was a total pro on his first school contact. He was enthusiastic and said it made him think about his own kids.
Lots of families in the audience were in tears at the end. 🥹 Thanks @ARISS_Intl !

Conn Elementary in Raleigh will have a direct scheduled contact via @ARISS_Intl With ice and snow storms on either side of us and Crew 11’s evacuation, this is the contact that almost didn’t happen twice!

Over the past month or so I've been working on a little side project to help me learn more about RTEMS, a real-time operating system used in many aerospace projects. To that end I've created a satellite ground station controller that runs on a BeagleBone Black SBC. I also designed an I/O "Cape" PCB for use with the BeagleBone Black.
