I’ve been seeing #sociocracy come up; in the #Amiko Rails fork, in conversations about double-linking and networked orgs, more than once in the last couple weeks.

Genuine question if you’re using/used it: why does it matter to you? If you’ve gone beyond the theory, what problem did it solve that flat consensus or plain voting or other mechanisms didn’t? And where does it break down?

Trying to understand if this is something worth designing for #Rhizo in the future as three mentions in two weeks is not a coincidence.

2. We've had success in running some **major** #Rails apps on experimental forked versions of both `rails` and `railties`, and at running our equivalent of `rails new`.

3. We're building community governance using Sociocracy: https://sociocracy30.org/

4. Work progresses on website, brand, and determining a non-placeholder name

This *is* happening, and we need YOU!

I'd love if #amiko can go back to what Rails used to have in "Conversation over configuration". Good defaults instead of tons of options. More embrace to common technologies outside of Rails' not-invented-here syndrome. And finally, reliability and stability to keep switching costs low/unsurprising for companies. Good luck!

Some updates and stats for #Amiko (#Rails fork):

~650 boosts for the “this is happening” post. That’s *huge* numbers for the Fediverse, in my experience.

98 people in the matrix space as of right now. Should break 100 shortly.

Code exploration has started, we’re working out how to do this.
