#NowSpinning #AhUm by Charles #Mingus - for me, one of the top 5 #jazz albums, & one of the most consequential albums of all time.
This is the #MoFi OneStep - the music is monumental and cacophonous and this pressing captures it about as well as any.

Sunday afternoon & first record of 2023 is #CharlesMingus, #TheBlackSaintAndTheSinnerLady.
I’ve turned into something of a Mingus nut with this replacing #AhUm as my favourite of his studio albums (although #TheClown runs close). I just love the huge swell & surge of the horns - reminds me of an unhinged Bernard Herrmann score.
Cut by #RyanKSmith for the #AcousticSounds #Impulse series this is rich, bombastic, with mad dynamics.
