#AgileConfessions Back in the dawn of time (i.e. 2000's), I was coaching some other teams inside Cognos.

I saw a team that was struggling with their product backlog. I thought if only I found the correct way to get them to write user stories, something magical would happen.

I didn’t have the book User Stories Applied, so I went with what I could find on the internet.

I tried inflicting my opinion on them.

It took more time than I care to admit to realize that it was about the conversations and not how they get written down.

In my first PM role, I thought “agile” meant finishing tickets quickly so we could change “the plan” at any time — doing other things. After some months, it got on the team's nerves. We only reached calmer waters when we were able to develop the right KPIs from mere metrics. “What next” then emerged naturally because we were able to continuously improve things — doing things differently.

#AgileConfessions misusing the daily not JUST for conversation amongst developers but also as a kind of reporting (but we really tried to keep it brief!!

Confession time.

Years ago I rolled Scrum out with my team strictly by the Guide. Sprints, points, standups, all of it. Truth is, I hadn't understood the first thing about agile. Pure cargo cult, and I couldn't even see it at the time.
