Conclusion: Our results indicate that the introduction of 20 mph limits resulted in a reduction in collisions and casualties 3 years post implementation. However, the effect exceeded expectations from changes in speed alone, possibly due to a wider network effect.

Now that the wonderful 20 MPH speed limit is in in place. Here's some observations of mine. I'm using about 35% more fuel, I'm stationary for longer periods of time at traffic lights. My journey home from work was up to 15 minutes, it can now be up to 25 minutes. I'm having to use the brakes more often.
