Homemade bottle of cidre as a welcome present and then a typical (for us) French dinner. Can't beat this!

So while setting up the Ubuntu system I used the supplied Firefox without any adblockers and with google as the search engine. I ran about 15 searches for quite specific things like dpkg commands and the like.
Every query got the Gemini "ai" answer at the top. And every one of these was wrong. Every. Single. One.
Incorrect package names. Wrong command options. Stuff that didn't apply to 25.04 or even Ubuntu generally.
How clueless does one have to be to hype this BS?

Inbound from a pretty nice Olde Pharts™ weekend doing some spelunking around the port of Rotterdam with a friend.

Seems like LG are getting out of the DVD/BD player market. There's nothing official yet (that I'm aware of) but the UBK 80 and 90 models are marked as discontinued on their web site and there's lots of stores selling their demo units as refurbished on ebay.
If you want to get one this might be a good time.
Sony and Panasonic still make players, for now at least. #physicalmedia #ownyourmedia

Oohh look what I found on my desk this morning! Hot off the press, the 3rd edition. 👍
I don't usually get excited about books, but this is to industrial security what "The C Programming Language" is to devs. The definitive guide to the subject. Best read slowly and with copious notes scribbled down.

Asked IT for a small VM. 2 vCPUs, 8GB Ram, 30GB disk, windows license. The thing you can spin up in proxmox within 10 seconds and of which 20 easily fit on an old r430.
Of course this needs to now run in azure. Whatever.
After an eternity the request proceeds to the "let's click it together" stage.
125 Eur PER MONTH is what Nutella's crooks want for it. 1,500 Eur per year. Above fully depreciated server would net 30,000 Eur. Annually, until it caught on fire.

Radio news this morning: "There was a time change. Radio clocks set themselves automatically, you need to adjust all others manually."
I kid you not. 😳 #manageyourexpectations

I don't know what's more surreal about the TietoEvry hack.
The fact they apparently ran their backups onto network-accessible windows storage.
Or the fact I accidentally clicked on the wrong link and began reading about their February, *2021* ransomware attack which was hauntingly similar; albeit minus the popped backup server. #tietoevry

Just received the periodic groups.io membership verification. I am subscribed to 19 mailing lists. Over the past year there has been traffic on 2 of them, to the tune of maybe 20 mails in total.
Such is the state of federated communication these days... #greybeard #getoffmylawn #protocolsnotplatforms

German guy coming into a pizza place in Belgium. Orders in French, exchanges the few crumbs of Italian he's learned with the maître, both laugh, continue their conversation in English.

Been looking at #tuleap as a #jira replacement. Grandiose website, apparently lots of customers, but their only supported OS is RHEL/Centos *7*. Not 8, and not 9.
And because of it they're also pulling in lots of php dependencies from a random repo on the Internet. Which in turn prevents installation on anything else, as that repo has the same stuff for the 8 flavors but packaged and named differently. WT actual F?
Guess I'll have to keep looking. Anyone have a good Kanban alternative?
