  3. It was a super frosty start to the day, with the pond iced over. But now it really does feel like spring. #bees #BloomScrollingWithABee

  4. So this #squirrel has outwitted me again. They had managed to get around the dome baffle, so I hung it on a chain so they couldn’t reach. But they have a technique that involves stretching down the chain as far as they can then ‘gracefully’ sliding over the top of the dome and dropping off, hoping to catch hold of the peanut feeder as they fall. 9 times out of 10 I’ve watched them miss, but occasionally they are successful and cling on tight, even while swinging wildly in the wind.

  5. It might be missing something…a gingerbread cat maybe, but with the difference in scale it would look like Kitten Kong and that’s not a look I’m going for (this year anyway).

  6. Finally got around to some baking. First mince pies of the year (not counting the ones I made in January with the last of Christmas past mincemeat).

A couple might have been eaten already.

  7. After a drizzly start for a walk along the coast path from Penbryn, most of it lost from view in low cloud, the sky cleared as I reached Llangrannog. I treated myself to lunch (with some Welsh cider) then continued onto the Lochtyn Peninsula, heading back inland before more weather rolled in.

  9. Our new house has an oil-fired #Rayburn that does heating, hot water (can be heated separately by immersion) and cooking (have gas hob, microwave and electric oven also). Have just been using Rayburn for hot water so far but will need heating soon and I’d like to try cooking with it. Does anyone have any tips?

I know they aren’t cheap to run (also oil!) and will be looking at other options so not looking for alternative suggestions rn - want to live with it for a season but use it best. Tx

  15. It’s #WorldRainforestDay today so here’s a pic of some local temperate rainforest at Lustleigh Cleave on Dartmoor. A gem of a place, it envelops you in its damp, green mossiness.

  16. One for UK #walking fedifolk..

Is anyone using the OSMaps App having trouble with it saving activity? The last two routes I walked did not save, despite me recording them, nor was there a prompt to save after I hit finish. Many thanks.

Edit: is anyone using it and not having problems? Wondering if it’s something in settings. Thanks again!

  23. A curious sheep photobombing my pic of Huntingdon Cross.

The cross is originally thought to have been erected as a waymarker on the Abbot’s Way between the abbeys at Buckfast and Tavistock. Later used by a landowner to mark the boundary of his manor 🙄 (dartmoor-crosses.org.uk/huntin).

I missed it last time I was here - I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face let alone a stone cross. It made for a sunny lunch spot on the banks of the River Avon today.
