Flooding meant a detour, but the scenery was gorgeous and the walk thoroughly enjoyable.

Ventured to the Wild West today in Pembrokeshire for a Slow Ways; Neyland to Milford Haven. A few more pics from part 2 of #SlowWays Plymstock to Salcombe. Restarting at Bigbury was not ideal - no buses of course (except on a Tuesday 🙄) so getting there this morning was a mini adventure in itself. Three buses (miraculously on time) & a lovely 5.5 mile walk along the Avon Estuary to the ferry. The continuation of the SlowWay was 10 miles through a landscape of rolling green hills & coastal valleys characteristic of the South Hams. A cracking #holloway too.

A change from my usual solo bimbling, yesterday I teamed up with a couple of fellow slowwayers to #hike a couple of #SlowWays, from #Axminster to #Colyton & then to #Honiton. Our combined forces meant we were able to ‘snail’ (verify) two routes & review an alternative option.

Great routes through beautiful #EastDevon countryside, following a good part of the #EastDevonWay, & through lovely ancient woodlands. The feel of spring in the air.

After listening to the incessant rain last night, I almost had 2nd thoughts about pioneering the #SlowWays route from #Buckfastleigh to #Ipplepen today - expecting #Devon #byways & #bridleways flowing like rivers or boot-deep in mud. A bit of both, but surprisingly passable. A flooded meadow proved more tricky. The original route, Bucipp 1 fails due to an access issue (lack of!), but I’d an alternative up my sleeve - Bucipp 2 gets 4⭐️ imo.

Another ancient #Holloway. The banks were lovely and mossy, and dripping with water. The sound was so soothing. It would have made a lovely field recording but there was too much noise carrying from a nearby building site. A particularly special route for me as I was responsible for adding it to the definitive map of public rights of way 😊 #Devon #Byways #Mosstodon #SlowWays #lichen

Reviewed a route from Lapford to Crediton as part of the #SlowWays network. A damp start, which turned into a lovely afternoon. Walking ancient (albeit a bit wet and muddy) #byways and #bridleways through the beautiful, peaceful mid #devon countryside. Reached Crediton just as the sun went down, tired and muddy (and with squelchy boots), but happy.
