Man that sun is really beating down. Inside taking a break, so I may as well post about my new sunchokes.
All it takes is a food safe container (I believe those are recycling numbers one, four, and five, but you should definitely check that out yourself), a drill bit or a large nail, and a lighter or, in my case, a creme brulee torch.
Keep the drill bit or nail and make holes in the bottom for drainage. But not too many holes or it won't hold any liquids. The number of holes is inversely proportionate to the size of the holes.
I like to bury the tubers fairly far down so that squirrels and other bastards will not dig them up. And then I cover the entire pot with a layer of mulch. That both helps keeps the moisture in, and prevents splash back from spreading any disease in the soil onto the plant.
I also have a Rubbermaid bin that I converted and put a Egyptian walking onion in with them. I put the Red Fuseau sunchokes in that bin.
The extra tubers are going into a friend's yard. And no, this year it's not a surprise. Though maybe some of the pumpkins will be.
(Apparently I'm going to have to fix the alt tags afterwards because the photos are being weird. )

The number of times cops have had to deal with this guy is astronomical. Not sure how many times other people have encounters with the police, from either perspective, but this guy seems to have them almost daily.
Whether is trying to criminalize someone or facing repercussions of his own behaviour the cops absolutely know what they're doing when they release this guy on a crowd.
Considering that he's managed to have negative encounters with random people at Sankofa Square, Pahlavists, and leftists within the span of a couple of weeks, I think we can safely say the common denominator is him.
