  1. Okay. Done for the day.
Guess I am throwing everything in the trash when I get home. πŸ€·πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ

This was certainly a new one for me as a #LegalObserver.

  2. Off to coordinate legal observers at what is pretty much guaranteed to be a shitshow, WITH! *dun dun dun* a bonus "funnel cloud watch".

Who said legal observing wasn't a thrill-a-minute ride?

  3. @SpaceyDacey
I love when I am not coordinating the LOs at an action. It means I can lend my ex-cheerleader lungs to the chants.

I particularly ❀️ yelling FUCK YOU 52 after all the 2am sessions doing jail support there.

  4. On my way to coordinate Legal Observers for the third day in a row. Protest season has definitely started in earnest.

I am so far behind in work, though.

    ❝
Toronto showed "significant unfairness" when it cleared encampments in the summer of 2021 and chose to act quickly despite there being no urgency to do so, an investigation into the controversial moves has found.

In a report released Friday, Toronto Ombudsman Kwame Addo says the city chose "speed over people" when it forcefully cleared encampments in Trinity Bellwoods, Alexandra and Lamport Stadium parks.

"Our investigation found the City displayed insufficient regard for the people it moved out of the parks," Addo said.

    STRATHCONA RESIDENTS SPEAK OUT!
    EMERGENCY PRESS CONFERENCE

    πŸ“£ β€’ πŸ“£ β€’ πŸ“£ β€’ πŸ“£ β€’ πŸ“£ β€’ πŸ“£

🏘 The City and managers at Homes First Society are evicting residents of the Strathcona shelter hotel and forcibly transferring them to inappropriate congregate spaces with zero notice, zero consultation, and zero regard for the rights and wellbeing of residents.

🏘 This course of action by the shelter admin appears to have been planned with as little notice to residents as possible in order to prevent organizing in the community to hold the city to account.

🏘 From the time residents first received notice, in a matter of days, the city has already forced dozens of our friends at the Strathcona out to scattered congregate bunks.

🏘 The remaining Strathcona residents and comrades at ESN - Parkdale are organizing an emergency press conference and rally tomorrow (Thursday march 23rd) at 1PM at the Strathcona (60 York St).

🏘 Residents and Organizers are asking for support from ally organizations, co-strugglers, and our community members tomorrow to stand in solidarity and speak out against this ongoing injustice!

    Background:
Residents were told in mid March that they were being evicted from the Strathcona and would have until April 12th to gather their belongings and shelter space to relocate to, but within just days of this notice dozens have been coerced into leaving, pushed into cabs without knowing anything about the isolated and divergent congregate shelters they’re being relocated to.

Many Strathcona residents are seniors, and people with disabilities ♿️ who had been living there for several years. Residents are standing their ground until they’re given actual housing and community members are standing in solidarity.

The press conference and rally will demand actual housing🏘, will demand a halt to the forced and harmful transfers being executed without any notice or consultation, and will raise awareness of the ongoing injustices taking place at the Strathcona and across this city’s discordant and inadequate shelter system.
