  4. I’m on my way home from my first , which was as fun and friendly as I’d expected ❤️🐍❤️. Always great to meet folks IRL whom I’d previously only known through Discord et al (especially so many @pyladies!), and to see folks I’ve been lucky enough to get know before at @pybay, @NorthBayPython, or @pybeach.

    And kind of a trip to hear Travis Oliphant refer several times to work Paul Dubois did in the 90s on Numerical Python, when in the 90s I only knew Paul as “Friend’s dad who drives us to the movies and helps with Mortal Kombat”!

  5. That's it... 2026 is over. I gave a tutorial, and a talk at the edu summit. Saw old friends, met new ones, and had great chats about AI and the future of . Gave out 100s of shirts & stickers, and some books.

    I'm happy and exhausted. See you all next year!

    Anyway, if you like birds, there are Swinhoe's white-eyes in the trees right around the convention center. It's always fun to come to a conference and leave with a new bird for your life list!
