@me If you read *chatter, I plan to put a note about this in the welcome page AFTER April 1 is over.
I'm also planning to write to the bot and tell it about that.
I have secret knowledge and so I found its email address noted in some blog posts as nosing about on other social media adjacent sites.

@screwlisp @keefmarshall @SrRochardBunson @fstateaudio @DFFSoundSystem
So, if I'm to make a *news post about bonkwave release pool party for April 1, SOMEONE ELSE needs to write it. Like soon?

Reminder that you can do your own hacks if you call $local.fool:is_apr_1() to check whether it should be enabled. More in "look #11141"

@screwlisp @keefmarshall @SrRochardBunson @fstateaudio @DFFSoundSystem
So what would that look like and what implementation does it need? Maybe nothing, maybe a *news post? The Halloween party was pretty popular, and that was just a news post.

April 1 is on the way. Anyone have any ideas for (easy to implement, or you help do it) hacks for #LambdaMOO ?

Saved up a snow picture from the recent storm to post today

@MicroSFF So that explains the #KateDaniels series by #IlonaAndrews...

I went to a coordinated #SignsOfFascism activism thing in a nearby town organized by the local #Indivisible chapter. Just 15 or so people spread out along the road.

Being frustrated by the lack of concrete information about #NoKings Boston on the 18th. #Mass50501 still says "details coming"; #MassachusettsPeaceAction and #mobilize.us say BOTH noon-4 AND "time to be announced"; #SwingBlueAlliance (who I've never heard of before) says 10-1. What time is a body to show up? I guess they're arguing with the city about use of Boston Common or something, because they all also say "exact location to be announced".
It's only three weeks away!

Anecdote from my partner:
"I have just installed 96TB of disk space in an external enclosure on [work computer]. [coworker] wants it for storing astronomical images. The first time I installed a disk drive on a computer it was 48 years ago and the drive held 90kB. Today's storage is one billion times larger.
Moore's Law is really about chips and not disks, and says that things double every two years. According to that, a billion-fold increase should take 60 years, so I'm somewhat ahead of that rate."

@dplattsf ...aaaand the #BostonGlobe censored today's Doonesbury. Thanks for posting the real one.

On the ex-Symbolics employees mailing list somebody posted a link to a "history of the Lisp machine".

It's kind of long and so I didn't watch the whole thing, but just skipped around a little bit. Somebody else who did watch it said,
'Fascinating exposition. Given his mispronunciations of "CADR" and "Macsyma", it's clear that he wasn't in the room where it happened, nor spoke to anyone who was. But I can't quarrel with his research or cause-and-effect analysis of both the industry as a whole and Symbolics in particular.'

It was yuuuge! Saw several helicopters and one drone flying overhead.
The MC had good energy. The music was some good, some mediocre, the speakers were "what you would expect at an event like this". There was a heckler who tried to interrupt #MichelleWu's speech. Michelle was very professional about it and completely ignored the guy, did not get distracted, made sure that she was right in the microphone so that her remarks were louder. She said various dramatic things that we were all supposed cheer after and so she paused at the right time and we cheered appropriately. So the heckler did not achieve his goals. The MC then talked about how "we don't all agree in this movement and that's okay, but we need to all be in the movement. We need to not be divided." Which was good and off-the-cuff and well spoken. Which he did a couple of other times on different topics.

My housemate's UU church organized a very small protest yesterday. They plan to do this every Wednesday at 5 PM for an hour, perhaps with different themes. Don't know if I'm going to go every week. There were about 25 people there.
Yesterday's theme was immigrants. I brought a Hands Off sign.
Mostly people honked in a supportive way. There was one pedestrian who started yelling about Laken Riley, which I'd not heard of. So we got our phones and looked it up, and apparently this person was murdered by an undocumented immigrant, and now there's a whole congressional act about detaining undocumented immigrants if they have been charged with any type of minor crime. I'm like, you're more likely to be murdered by a good old-fashioned white boy, but statistics don't make good press.
There is going to be some big nationwide thing on June 14 protesting the whole Trump making himself out to be a king thing, and it turns out it's going to coincide with Boston Pride. Should be fun!

I went! It was great! 75°, partly sunny, fairly windy which allowed everybody's flags to stream out beautifully and keep everybody cool. My train was slightly late, so I missed the leadoff with Dykes on Bikes, but there were so many people! We walked to the tail end and watched all the rainbow-washing corporate groups. It was over two hours from beginning to final group passes the start line! Then we got to see all the street sweepers following the parade for cleanup.

We are switching to #Verizon #Fios. There was a foo foo rah about our #staticIP: the installer thought it didn't go on our server, but on his router, and if we wanted the server to have one, we had to buy more. After he left, we discovered #DMZhost on the router, which theoretically does exactly the right thing.
Are there any gotchas about using this mechanism to get our static IP assigned to our server for "everything that isn't their voice over IP box"?

Saw a political sign that said "#MadamPresident 2025-2029". Shouldn't that be 2033?
