@FalconFive @Annaeus @Tilopa im sure he bought #Twitter fully aware that #ChatGPT was about to drop and what he could do with it. Using that type of tech along with the social graph he acquired he will be able to do MUCH better than Cambridge Analytica ever could to influence elections and NO ONE can do much about it since he fired anyone who might call him out and has all but shut down the API to external researchers… the guy is a serious threat to democracy.

@TCatInReality @aral @FalconFive agreed many of his company’s do benefit from government subsidies but I think he is more interested in avoiding regulation (worldwide) and of course taxes. The guy has drunk his own coolaid and wants to become the puppet master… unfortunately he has many people either convinced he’s the second messiah or so addicted to there own need for social followers that they are willingly drinking it with him.
There is only one solution…

@TCatInReality @aral @FalconFive this guy owns a solar utility/EV firm, is dominating access to space, has a worldwide ISP, invested heavily in AI, working on brain implants now single-handedly operates what was once the most influential social media platform. The irony is if he actually lived in an autocracy (that he seems to want to create) he’d never have been able to build up this empire but if he did he’d likely fall out of a window and the state would take everything!

@davew agree that we don’t have enough of the people I was following on Twitter here yet but that’s probably people are really attached to their follower counts and or because these other centralized services are fragmenting the exodus. I’d like to see a decentralized, open source platform ultimately prevail but it seems like lots of people are being attracted to the shiny new services instead of really advocating for this platform whole heartedly.
