Singapore is an advanced nation with one of the highest GDP per capita in the world. So their manual workers have air conditioned vehicles to transport them.
All fossil fuels too and pedestrians are seriously marginalised. If they don’t change course soon #singapore will be a National #strandedasset

@Cassman @janrosenow don’t think so. Singapore has no manufacturing of any sort and their penetration of electric vehicles is almost nil. Their electricity generation is 99% fossil fuels and the economy is based on oil refineries but they don’t have any oil of their own. They are one of the wealthiest countries in the world and could easily finance a transition, but there does not seem to be any political will.
I think they’re about to become a national #strandedasset -
@kim_harding @clarkiestar somebody ought to tell the highheidyins in Singapore. They seem to be all dinosaurs.

https://www.renewableinstitute.org/the-green-potential-of-singapores-energy-industry/ quite remarkable how one of the wealthiest countries in the world seems set on a course to become a national #strandedasset .
Negligible renewable energy and negligible conversion to electric vehicles.
And negligible ambition to change that any time soon. How long before we start sanctioning countries for not making reasonable efforts to arrest the climate crisis?

@BintyMcFrazzles @straphanger actually no. It’s pedestrians that complain about entitled cyclists. Especially when they are the victims of a #closepass by a cyclist.

“Toronto spending $92M on pair of replacement ferries
The city says the #ferries are between 61 and 114 years old and are beyond the average industry lifespan. This summer, council approved the purchase of two new electric vessels for $92 million, but they won't be delivered until late 2026 and early 2027.”
A bit of perspective for the #Corran ferry!
And indeed for the #Calmac fleet.https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/toronto-mayor-island-ferry-service-safe-1.7343415

@DamienMarieAtHope well that’s bollocks for starters.
The Magna Carta is not a constitution, and it applied only to England, not the UK.
The Declaration of Arbroath also pre-dates the US Constitution, but it is not a constitution either.I find it tedious how slippery little England tries to be the oldest, the best, the first in everything and cannot accept that they are just a third-rate little nation on the edge of Europe.
