  1. History Hunt (hes.scot/history-hunt) is collectible cards given out by Historic Environment Scotland to its members at some of their sites.

Find it really difficult to keep track of which cards I have and which sites I should visit (and when!) to collect them all, so I write a mini app. 😄

  3. This was an interesting read. A lot of it could be applied to other places as well!

[PDF] #HistoricScotland - Short Guide: #ClimateChangeAdaptation for Traditional Buildings

"Some traditional buildings may become less able to cope with changing weather patterns caused by #ClimateChange. This Short Guide describes the key aspects of the external envelope of a traditional building that provide protection against the elements, and considers how these can be improved or adapted to increase a building’s resilience to #ExtremeWeather events. It also considers the internal environment within older buildings, and how this can be managed to cope with changing environmental conditions."

  4. #HES #HistoricScotland Urquhart Castle happy to ridicule Scotland’s national animal but refusing to sell Loch Ness monster souvenirs.

  5. The amazing Dallas Dhu preserved distillery south of Forres. The distillery was built in 1898-9 and closed in 1983. It reopened as a visitor attraction in 1988 and gives an excellent insight into the distiller’s art. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/for

  6. I see Historic Environment Scotland have seen fit to put Urquhart Castle on the front of their explorer pass. An excellent idea to promote a castle away from the central belt but Urquhart should have been their last choice as they already turn away hundreds of visitors per day.

Who makes these decisions? #HistoricScotland #HistoricEnvironmentScotland
