  1. Some #islanders in #Orkney attend weekly #vigil on #Kirk Green in #Kirkwall every Saturday between 1 and 2pm

hey have been doing so since the end of October 2023. #Photographs & #films are made which are seen by #Palestinians in #refugee camps, and those who have been displaced. It gives them hope when they find that even as far away from them as Orkney is, that there are people who know of their #suffering, and who care.

  6. @MichaelMaggs @ScottishPlaces Common good!
Still a lack of photos of the #Kirkwall Ba' Game...

  7. The Earl's Palace, standing in the heart of Kirkwall in Orkney and perhaps the finest Renaissance building in Scotland. Together with the neighbouring Bishop's Palace it helps chart the course of a turbulent period in Orkney's history. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/kir

  8. The sign over the gate at Highland Park Distillery near Kirkwall in Orkney, founded in 1798. And a pagoda that works: this is one of those all-too-rare distilleries with its own traditional floor maltings and kilns. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/kir

  9. #orkney friends-I need a cat sitter for my three indoor only cats. They are super sweet and love people! Do you know of a reliable pet sitter in the #kirkwall area? Please retoot this (if even you’re #scotland based and know Orkney folks! ) #cat #help #OrkneyIslands #blackCats

  10. The Bishop's Palace is across the road from the cathedral and built about the same time (12th C), then enlarged in 1540. An extra floor was added to the main buildings and the tower constructed.

  11. The tower of the Bishop's Palace in Kirkwall, Orkney doesn't look very high, but it is quite high enough once you are up there, thank you very much.

(I'm not scared of heights so much as getting anxious in places where me, camera or phone could fall down and be damaged or lost. Which is quite, reasonable I think.

  12. #Kirkwall really needs to sort out their “pedestrian” street.
Fast, entitled drivers are common especially dropping or collecting friends.
