This trailer for the fangame Super Mario Bros Remastered looks fucking *awesome*, however...
How many more times are we going to have to do this before people start to learn? How many more fangames are going to do this and get "cease and desisted" to death before the release before you figure out this is a bad idea?
No announce trailer months ahead of time. No Discord. Drop it somewhere with no credits. Game gets out there, stays alive and no one knows who to go after for it.
Also, how can you claim it is fully open source when you straight up use Nintendo's original artwork, assets and level designs?

Felt like playing #SuperMarioMaker2 for the first time in a while and decided to try my hand at environmental storytelling while still making a regular Mario level. The level is called Morton's Mechanized Meadows and the level code is DCX-LM1-VHF. I'd appreciate any feedback! #MarioMaker

#SuperMarioWonder is really great and all, but I hope it doesn't lessen Nintendo's interest in bringing back #MarioMaker for a third run-out.
Those games are super special, and whilst Wonder does feel a little like what MM would be if Nintendo made all the levels, there's still so much room for fan creativity that I do hope we see these tools included in the next entry into the MM series.
