Worked on a fun little update to #BlindSVG today! I added a little Google Translate widget to the site header, kept the vertical select menu and hid the rest of the widget elements I didn't need, and now folks can translate all the pages into their preferred language when learning how to handcode #SVG for #TactileGraphics. Hoping this will help spread this skillset to even more #Blind designers around the world. https://blindsvg.com/

If you'd like to hear about what @ChanceyFleet and I have been up to in the world of #TactileGraphics, our backstories, tactile drawing and art exploration, how #BlindSVG came to be, and where we hope to take all of this, check out our interview on the #ATBanter podcast! https://atbanter.com/2025/11/19/at-banter-episode-444-getting-a-feel-for-art-with-blindsvg/

come check out the #WebAIM virtual conference tomorrow! Ted Drake and I will be talking about the challenges involved with trying to use AI to draft alt text; inaccuracies, hallucinations/confabulations, sanitization of disability representation and bias, lack of surrounding context, and more. Now with new potential solutions and prompts from when we presented this same topic back at #CSUN. #A11y https://conference.webaim.org/

I made some final tweaks to the #Tactile #SVG Bingo card output for both portrait and landscape modes, made the site responsive, pretty, and functional in light and dark modes with CSS, and am happy to release this further out into the world! Thanks to @ChanceyFleet for bringing this little project to me! Now anyone can make tactile and embossable Bingo Cards whenever they want! We can do so much nonvisually with just a little code and a means of tactile output! https://blindsvg.com/pages/projects/bingo/

Here I am teaching #TactileDrawing techniques to 30 TVIs at #CTEBVI. We went over the Tangible Art & Design Adventures curriculum, walked through drawing lines, shapes, orientation, spatial reasoning, and hand turkeys! This was a fantastic event and I loved how engaged everyone was when learning how to draw #Blind. Here's the curriculum: https://tada.wssb.wa.gov

About to head into #CTEBVI for the first time to help present the Tangible Art & Design Adventures curriculum with CATT-NW! Will lead folks through tactile drawing and art techniques, and explain how #blind kids and adults can go from that up to building their own digital and tactile graphics with SVG coding! Check out the curriculum: https://tada.wssb.wa.gov

Our #Tactile Teach-In is back! If you'll be in or around Colorado on May 1-3, our team will be teaching our tactile drawing and approximate perspective curriculum for #Blind kids and adults to folks who want to learn how to teach it to others. The final day will be for all folks who just want to attend and learn how to draw! Come brave the altitude and draw with us! https://www.actionfund.org/form/tactile-art

Attention all airline carriers, your native apps are not websites. Please stop building lazy hybrid experiences that make web views the norm in the Booking and other important screens in your apps! Web-centric components and designs do not belong in native apps, period. It may be cheaper to develop and faster to deploy, but these web views are slow and are very difficult to use with #AssistiveTechnology if not outright #Inaccessible. Do what's right, not what is easy!#A11y

For anyone creating #TactileGraphics either visually or nonvisually, I've posted hex color values up on #BlindSVG which you can use to set specific dot heights when outputting on a ViewPlus embosser, or potentially any other embosser that has multiple dot heights, or even a tactile display like the Graffiti. Thanks to Naomi Rosenberg from the MAD Lab at the Lighthouse for the Blind in San Francisco for these values! #Blind #SVG https://blindsvg.com/pages/styling/#tiger

This fun little test scene is using #SVG textPath elements to make an arching caterpillar, some bees, and a trail of ants coming out of an anthill. Except all the bugs are made out of #braille that spells out the type of bug it's making up. Using the Braille36 Tiger font and using Unicode Braille Pattern characters for the braille itself to be visifle and embossable. It's really fun reading the braille in a non-standard way around the paper! #Blind #TactileGraphics #BlindSVG

I'm finally sitting down and working my way through #100DaysOfSwift, and have passed checkpoint 5 and managed to get through Closures. My M3 Pro is making learning this much...um...Swifter when jumping between the lessons and #Xcode while using #VoiceOver. Most of this has been review, but I really want to get comfy with this language so I can be more effective at being an iOS #Accessibility Engineer. So far so good! #Blind #BlindCoding

I love learning new things every time I build a new website. Recently redid all the nav bars of my main sites by loding one file in via jQuery instead of stupidly copy pastaing the code into each page. Also wrote my own JS script that applies aria-current and a CSS class to the correct link based on the page that is loaded. It's just fun to noodle around with this all even if I may be designing quite a few years behind everyone else. Still better than react! :) #a11y #BlindCoding
