  1. I remember it as being a bit larger - probably in my memory it still has the CUB monitor and floppy drive. And a connection to a networked hard disk which has 10mb (!) of shared storage. 10! Mb!

  3. I signed up for the #AppleCare One thing - as I’ve lots of Apple stuff - but my daughter’s MacBook Air kept getting removed. I kept adding it. It would get removed.

Guess when the screen got broken? Yeah when it was removed. It costs > $500 to get the screen repaired. It’s probably the first time AppleCare has let me down.

  8. @GrantMeStrength I learned to code from Usborne as a pre-teen, and that really set the course of my career a decade later. Thirty or so years on, my kid pulled one of the books from our shelves (Usborne "Write your own adventure programmes for microcomputers") and we sat together and coded it up on a BBC emulator. I love Usborne, but I did have a strong desire to refactor that code! I had to keep explaining to my son how this or that bit of code wasn't best practice, and why. But that makes me sound ungrateful to them. I owe them a big debt of gratitude. Thanks #Usborne !

  9. @vk2gpu #Usborne has graciously provided many of their classic 1980s computer #books as freely downloadable PDFs, including the “Introduction to Computer #Programming: #BASIC for Beginners” in @GrantMeStrength’s photo: usborne.com/books/computer-and

  13. Unsoldered the BASIC ROM from this #AmstradCPC464 to pop in a new one to make it a 6128 but dang - wrong ROM image. :( #retrocomputing

  14. I’ve an #AmstradCPC464 #retrocomputer. Is there a way to use external ROMs to update BASIC to 1.1 and so get access to ROMs 7..15? If so, what ROM images in what slots? (I have a DD5 so effectively have extra RAM and Amsdos ROMs).

  15. What a project. Now to port Doom.

  16. No offense to this monster IBM keyboard, but it hurts my fingers it needs so much work! This week I built this Raspberry Pico based adapter (minuszerodegrees.net/keyboard/) and now life is quieter and gentler!

  17. This app was rejected so many times for completely random reasons. Clearly THEY don’t want you to have it.
