Part 4 of ups n downs of retro hardware

Oh and i managed to source some new keycaps for my #amstradcpc464
So its looking complete now.

Apart 3 keys not working now. Hoping its just a slipped key mat when i put it back together.

But day im having with tech im definitely not taking it apart until tomorrow. Gonna play a little ranarama on it to chill instead

I thought I'd share a couple of my early #retrogaming contributions from 1985 or so. I worked on both of these after high school, when I was renting a room in my friend Paul's house. Paul did most of the coding while I did the graphics.

I'm particularly happy with the sprite drop effect in The Key Factor which I lovingly borrowed from an Atari game called DropZone 😇

Unsoldered the BASIC ROM from this #AmstradCPC464 to pop in a new one to make it a 6128 but dang - wrong ROM image. :( #retrocomputing

I’ve an #AmstradCPC464 #retrocomputer. Is there a way to use external ROMs to update BASIC to 1.1 and so get access to ROMs 7..15? If so, what ROM images in what slots? (I have a DD5 so effectively have extra RAM and Amsdos ROMs).

I'm completely #newhere in the fediverse and wanted to let you know there is a new "system" out there (lave is a planet from my favourite computer game "elite", first played on an #amstradcpc464 back in the 80s, later on an #amiga500 - but in these heartless times I changed my background picture to pluto...).
That said, I'm interested in #astronomy, #engineering, #startrek, #perryrhodan, #linux (especially #manjarolinux), #learningfrench and other languages, (old) #computers, #reading, #hiking, #cycling, #traveling and exploring (strange) new worlds.
