  1. @KateCelyn I love that view. There is a tiny beach next to the harbour where we used to go because it was safer than the big beach for my much younger brother to play in the water. The railway curves around from the viaduct and went virtually over our heads. 60 years ago and I still miss it.

  2. @DrALJONES Good luck America, you're going to need it. And frankly, given the UK habit of sucking up to whoever is US president, so do we. We have our own right wing nut jobs who'd love to copy DeSantis. #US_politics #UK_politics

  3. @redflag This has been going on for a couple of weeks now, why isn't the Electoral Commission intervening? #ElectoralCommision #VotingFraud

  9. @Mjo321 I felt hiraeth all my life without knowing what it was or having a word for it. In 1999 we moved to Llangollen having tried north, south and middle England and felt weirdly at home. Then after 17 happy years we moved to be nearer the grandchildren and I'm devastated. #hiraeth

  10. @baldur Well I guess it will save assorted red neck conspiracy theorists from having to 'do your own research' on topics they know nothing about. #DYOR #conspiracy

  11. @ChrisMayLA6 Prepay meters *could* be a way to help hard-up people budget. BUT they should be offered not compelled and the offer made attractive by a hefty discount on the standard tariff rather than a surcharge as at present. Customers get help with their budgeting and suppliers have fewer bad headlines and legal cases. #Centrica

  13. @LadyT @JohannaSaunders That's a bit harsh. I know there's a superficial resemblance but it's not the gorillas' fault. Have you seen this nationalgeographic.com/animals hard to imagine Gullis being so altruistic. Or competent. #GullisOut

  14. @mikegalsworthy I can't keep up. There are now so many scandals, accusations, enquiries, so many lies, so many redactions and cover-ups it's impossible to keep track of it all. #ToriesLie #ToriesOut

  15. Today's batch of 'leveling up' find includes £48m to provide Peterborough station with a new entrance and new passenger footbridge. But the station belongs to Network Rail which is 100% owned by the government. So the government is giving itself a load of cash and pretending it's a good deal. If Network Rail, the local authority and development corps were properly funded no-one this would be routine expenditure. #LevelingUp #Tories

  16. @kityates How? The decision to give oxygen is based on an assessment of the patient's need. So do they expect paramedics to decide that some patients might be OK without it? Or some might die anyway so why waste it? Who decides? And if hospital staff dealing with that patient down the line think that their outcome was adversely affected by failure to give oxygen in the ambulance, who bears the guilt? #NHS #AmbulanceService

  27. The Trail Map – Part 1

A few posts ago I babbled about cartography. I've never had the patience for Cartography mainly because two things usually happen...well three things: the map can't be bigger than 8x11 the map must have everything on it Make the map however you want except we will change it at the last second. A couple of years ago I did a map for a local park.

  28. RE: dair-community.social/@KimCray

A personal story: My team was never bigger than right now and we have even another open position, first internal only.
I think technology company are a bit hyped for everything and it's and never really were correct. And this leads to over hiring and reducing employees again because the nature of economics come back from time to time.
AI won't disappear and we engineers need to understand the value and benefits of it. I think in general we don't know what is true about it because the market and technology is over hyped. As a suggestion to not learn a company product: use open source, because it will stay.
Companies will be acquired or stopped or the product closed after acquisition. It's not valuable for the long run to use claude or whatever is "cool" today. Use
