@dan Yeah… don’t know if you followed my #BMWi3 purchase saga, but I walked out of the dealership after 90 minutes telling the sales dude that he had taken up way too much of my time.
That was the end of it. They sold the car over a month later for $5,000 less than I offered, which they were arguing over, because it was $2,000 below the listed price, which I said was too high. They had agreed to lower the price by $500 twice and were still struggling to go the extra mile.

@autonerdery @thecarfactoids BMW was leaning heavily into their #UltimateDrivingMachine message back then, and compared to the W126, the E23 7-Series looks downright sporty. There aren’t many things (if any) that the W126 did significantly better. Comparatively speaking, it looks like a tank on wheels.

This is a “memory” from December 2017 taken with an iPhone X — the image will be heavily compressed on Mastodon — while leaving a rest area for a driver swap on I-70 WB (luckily, no snow or ice that time).
We used to travel that 1,015 mile trip (each way) once or twice a year in our Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and later, in our E-Class. Now, we just fly to Denver and grab a rental car.

So a few spots in the parking lot. First, the $170,000 (pre-tax and fees) #BMWXM that many love to hate. It’s not something I would buy, but is it really huge compared to the Ford “something” beside it? 🤔

Just installed #macOSSonoma on my #AppleM1 #Macmini. 10 minute download over wifi. 35 minute installation.
Flawless unsupervised process with zero interventions (as usual).
Loving the vineyard wallpaper already. Not sure what new features will be significant for me. I do most of my work on my five year old #iPadPro anyway (it does have a #MagicKeyboard with trackpad attached).

Funny thing is, the old truck with a 3 spd. auto + OD will achieve 13 mpg highway, 9 mpg towing; wheareas the new truck with a 6 spd. auto + OD will achieve 13 mpg highway (max), 9 mpg towing. 😳
They are just SO heavy now, and too high up for convenient loading. 🤦♂️
It takes a step ladder to reach the oil dipstick on the new truck (standard spec, no lift). I’m 6’2”.

If so, that is because Kris is 5’2” (1m57) and she couldn’t reach the pedals without height adjustable seats, so she had to get the Silverado edition — it was the top trim level in 1994, not the name of the entire range of full size trucks, as it is now #ChevroletSilverado.
Silverado edition gets you the wonderful power adjustable seats (except the backrest) on the driver’s side, including the 1950’s chrome controls from Cadillac! 😂

Walking part of the way home, after Dylan’s namesake flower store, I walked past this two-tiered mini-mall. Lots of these old style “70’s” decor mini-malls with the typical wood shingle fronts on top can be found all over #SoCal.
When I see them, I can imagine #JamesGarner of the #RockfordFiles showing up in his Pontiac Firebird.

Truck purchased in January 1994. Getting an oil change, service for the a/c, the fuel gauge, and the tailgate release.
You can see the broken plastic clips which are supposed to hold the metal rods for the latches in place. One of them I wired in place about 5 years ago! 😂
Had to sneak the mileage photo in while moving or I would have missed it, but I didn’t look at my phone for more than a second. Left the rest to chance. The result turned out okay. 😉

@SteveInVentura the #BMWi4 is almost an outlier, as a true luxury vehicle (unlike Tesla, which is more like a Volkswagen than a BMW or a Mercedes-Benz) starting just above $50K.
Given that the average new car purchase in the 🇺🇸 has risen close to that level, it seems almost inexpensive.

@DenOfEarth @BitchinRob @serichards @FlanFlinger I don’t know if you got to sit in the #BMWi3 or not, but in terms of size, the front seats on the i3 feel very roomy IMO. Easily equal to our 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class. It will also travel from 0-60 in about 7s 🆚 11s for the Soul.
Seat height adjustment is available for both front seats, the car comes with full climate control (not just manual a/c, which is less efficient + more annoying).
