  7. @hare_ware Putting in my vote for #HelixEditor. I've used everything you've mentioned. I'm a #Vim expert (I've even made videos). #PyCharm is what we use at work and has been a favorite (with Vim bindings #IdeaVim) forever; but I'm all in on Helix. This is a datapoint for you, not any kind of coercion. Give it a chance, compare, decide if it gives you what you need.

  14. Needed a simple way for my son to run a #Python development environment. "My #rdesktop template to the rescue!" It was easy to create a container that uses #PyCharm and run this from a browser, using a container and/or bootc (vm) images

  18. Well, I am sad. I’ve been trying to debug code running on a #thread in #Python. I’ve used #PyCharm, #pdb, and #ipdb. Nothing stops at a breakpoint on the thread. So much happening on the thread is invisible to me. Ugh.

  20. Getting started w/ #Python
That's a ten year old lie. But not really (see profile). #Newb anyway.

advised to use #PyCharm . it put some libs/ modules on there for me.

    rsync /linux/box /windows/box

    Surprised what pycharm added:
I don't want the IDE to just throw libraries in there that might work for what I'm trying to do.
That doesn't seem advantageous really, except for someone who has no plans other than to learn.

Can always uninstall them. remove them / comment out e.g. in app.py . seems extra.

anyone get where i'm coming from on that?
Recommendations? As in... don't let PyCharm do that... instead, do this...

E.g. simple thing using import requests to manipulate some json, . Pycharm added Catfish. why?
    lol. newb.

I have b/g in PHP (from v4), .js of course. web dev stuff. BASH. apache/ nginx admin via ssh. admin a vps WHM

  25. @sidereal

I used it when I was busy with my #datastructures course. All of the #JetBrains software has advanced debugging tools.

So I used #PyCharm for #Python, #CLion for C++ and #InteliJ for #Java. It allowed me to debug connections and relationships in data structures.

Today, I wouldn't personally use it because I know those stuff now, and I have my own workflow now. I never step through code anymore, I don't even use the debugging in #VScode anymore.

When required, I am a degenerate "console.log" debugger.
