@DJDarren I’m sure you’re basically Xmas-d out at this point, as far as music is concerned, no?
-
(Knowing that he died on Christmas Day makes this all the more poignant)

Everyone knows Last Christmas, but do you know this cracking seasonal number by George Michael?
December Song (I dreamed of Christmas) - George Michael.

(The #AdventCalendar of #XmasSongs are going to be boosts of the one I did last year. I’m all ears for new suggestions for my playlist though).

The Thatchers advert claiming they are “making cider with nothing but love” is bothering me. No apples involved at any point?

Just finished my first box of mince pies of the season. My wife makes excellent ones, but she’s barely stewed the first apple for her mincemeat, so these excellent ones from Cook will have to do.

Steeping fresh pineapple and toasted coconut in rum (Havana Club Especial in this case) for a couple of weeks = quick and delicious spiced rum. I’m particularly amazed how much the coconut flavour comes through. The rum goes much lighter in colour as the pineapple juices work their magic. I also then used the rummy pineapple with some other fruit roasted in the oven. Also highly recommended!

Apparently, Jimmy Anderson has played in nearly 1/5 of England’s test matches ever and has, single-handedly, bowled 3.6% of all the balls the side has delivered in the 150 year history of Test match cricket. Bloody hell. That’s a lot of hard yakka.

I’m not playing any hair metal, says @DJDarren before playing Bon Jovi one song later on #ThePlaylist. Well played!

CW: eye contact
Had a little snooze in front of the football after we got in from rowing, and woke up with the gentlest of purry breaths on my nose.

Another busy day at the office for Zizouchat. It’s a hard knock life.
-
I think we can all agree that it’s a curl-up-tight-in-a-box kind of a day.
-
Another tough day in the box for Zizouchat
-
Cats and boxes, eh?
This has been here for two weeks now, and Zizouchat is so taken with it (with a its pleasingly crunchy packing paper) that I haven’t got the heart to put it out for recycling.

As it’s a touch chilly today, Zizou has discovered a new nestling point between the layers of a padded camping blanket on the bed in the upstairs office. Very wise. My wife, it must be said, was foolish to take it off her lap and to leave it unattended for a moment as she worked. Zizou is now closely supervising her efforts.

She loves this window being open. She’ll come in the cat flap and then straight back out via the window, or vice-versa. Who knows what goes on in that little head?
-
I had a nap this afternoon and was delighted to be joined by this purring creature.
-
Somebody is enjoying their cosy window seat on a rainy day.
-
It’s been up for a couple of weeks and been utterly ignored, but we go away for the weekend and look what I come back to…. £5 well spent in a charity shop (in the end!)
-
I was planning on getting up after my short nap. I’ve been forced to make other plans.
-
So, this was my morning.
-
Fair to say that me and the cat both enjoyed a bit of a bank holiday lie-in this morning.
-
It’s incredibly pleasing to wake up to this most mornings.
-
My cat has started hopping onto my chest for a couple of hours every morning from about 5-6am. She wakes me up with her purring and I’m here for it.
My wife is insanely jealous. -
C’est dur d’être chat.
-
My cat, literally moments before falling out of the window and trying to style it out. She’s spent the evening trying (and obviously failing) to jump out of the now-shut window. Such a beautiful, lovable idiot.

Opened the door to the grocery delivery this morning and found him distracted by something. It didn’t take long to solve the mystery.
