This valve closer is my $30 insurance policy against leaks from the polybutylene pipes underneath my house. The pipes carrying hot water near the water heater have burst on at least three occasions in the past 7 years.
Combined with a Sonoff water sensor in the crawl space and my Flume water monitor, Home Assistant will close the valve if water is detected under the house while the water is running and send a notification about the leak.

Seriously, every single forecast for this alleged disaster has been wrong, at least where I live. We went from 2 foot snow totals in the forecast to maybe a quarter inch of ice, and it will likely all melt before Monday morning.
Has #Enshitification reached weather forecasting as well?
