  1. Happy 15 years of Apparatus! We will be running an Apparatus-themed contest for Principia, making a Principia level with just the objects that would have been available to you in Apparatus.

See the contest description for more info, you have 2 weeks to submit a level!

  2. Tomorrow marks the 15 year anniversary of the first release of Apparatus! Apparatus was the prequel to Principia, releasing back in 2011 for Android. It was revolutionary for mobile gaming at the time, and is fonly remembered by us who played it before Principia.

To celebrate this monumental milestone there will be a new contest tomorrow with a fitting theme... Stay tuned!

  3. Principia website update! There is now a new #RSS feed for newly uploaded levels on the community site:

There is also a page with a list of available Principia RSS feeds on the website, including external ones such as this Mastodon account, the PeerTube channel, Lemmy community and commit history for Principia source repositories (Yes, these all have RSS feeds available!).

    More to come!

  4. Reminder that Principia has a #Fluxer community! I have now set up bridging between the Principia Discord server and the Fluxer community, mirroring the channel layout between the two. Level, forum and chat feeds should also show up on Fluxer too once I have figured out their webhooks system.

I hope this will work better than the Matrix space, and will be enough to help people make the switch off Discord.

  5. This year Apparatus has seen some new love from me in the form of an unofficial decompilation. The game compiles and runs again like it should (...many bugs still intact), and can even be run on desktop now.

The game consists of a slightly derelict Java codebase, using OpenGL ES 1.1 and an over decade old version of libGDX. But is open to contributions for anyone who wants to see the game thrive again.

  6. Work continues on the new #DearImgui dialog backend that aims to replace the current #GTK dialogs on desktop. It is a more lightweight and portable GUI toolkit that is more suited for Principia, as well as being properly integrated into the game window.

Currently 31 out of 61 dialogs in the game have been implemented.
