FFS, lobsters no longer allows even discussing if a project uses LLMs: https://lobste.rs/s/h0eate/updates_site_guidelines_ai_llm_tags#c_u67vbw
I agree the vibecoding tag was overloaded, but I liked how it did at least label slop. Now, the new stance is the 180 that you can't acknowledge or discuss it at all.
ISO a lobsters-esque site that just doesn't allow any contributions from LLMs (or contributions about things including the output of LLMs tbh, but I'll settle for a label).
I think recently, https://words.filippo.io/seeds-solved/, is a good example of my limit. It's a human-written blog post about a pseudo-cryptanalysis problem solved by Anthropic. I don't want LLMs doing research or building things, but I can tolerate their use for cryptanalysis (specific forms of review, I guess), because that's the insanity the world's at today and it's hard to say we have a choice against it.
Funnily enough, the author left lobsters after that post _because_ it was tagged vibecoding, and I even agree that's somewhat overzealous. I'm just almost completely no longer interested in lobsters due to their 180 which says 'LLM use is normal and not to be discussed, considered, or criticized'.
I know the point of Mastodon is the fediverse and I can follow accounts which share my views. I don't want to traverse Mastodon. I've tried. It hasn't grabbed me with sufficient momentum. If I have to ask to be spoonfed people to follow, the platform isn't for me, and why it's a such a shame everyone has scattered these past few years.
A forum, a single place for all on-topic submissions, solves that. I just wish there was a forum I wanted to be on right now...
