@benfuddled #libcosmic is much more mature than it was a few years ago, I have managed to build this app relatively fast, I'm using the same core that #Done is using and so far it has integrated very nicely.

Okay, let's try this
#TwoThingsCanBeTrue (Rust Edition):
a) Rust's lifetime syntax is the ugliest thing I've ever seen in a programming language. I mean, really? A singular quotation mark followed by a single letter, almost always encased in brackets? Horrible.
b) I don't think I've ever encountered a programming feature that matches the elegance of Rust's pattern matching expressions. The fact that they requires exhaustiveness checking at compile time. That they can destructure data, bind values to variables, and use conditional guards. Amazing for handling with optional values. I wish every language could have it.
Ooh, I like this. Is there already an equivalent to a #OppositeFeelings or #TwoThingsCanBeTrue tag that I should follow?

The move to gstreamer as the backend for Jams is finally done! It's gone from being able to play 70% percent of my local music library to 100%.
Now I can get back into developing cool features and building out the GUI. I'm doing this for fun, so progress is very much dictated by how much fun I'm having and how many real life obligations are happening at a given time.
To my new followers: I've been working on a bespoke local music player/organizer written with #rust and #libcosmic. There are lots of great Linux players already, but I'm making this one because:
- I wanted an excuse to get better with rust.
- I'm really looking forward to COSMIC DE and wanted something that fit it visually.
- I'm very opinionated about how music players should work, so what better way to get something that matches my taste than to roll my own.
- It's Linux! You can never have too many choices. -

In the interest of improving my rust skills, I've been working on a music app using #libcosmic. It's still in the toy stage, but it's capable of playing, pausing, and scrubbing through a list of tracks.
Learning lots and starting to feel more confident! Will make the repository public once I clean things up (unused dependencies and unwrap()s everywhere 😅)

Picked up a new (used) coffee maker. This befuddled my partner since I run interference on everything in the house and he doesn't know something is broken until it's truly dead but our present coffee maker is showing signs of being at the end of its life cycle. Cleaned the new acquisition, though it was in great shape before, and ran several cycles through it to clean it's interior. It works great and is now on stand by. Reuse instead of refuse. A stab in the eye of capitalism. #Reuse #SaveEarth

Suppose you wanted to be surprised and delighted (and possibly intrigued and befuddled) in some field. You could start with the Top 10. Today, I’m talking about movies, so find some list of the 10 Greatest Films. This sort of listing is ubiquitous: 10 Greatest Dramas, 100 Films preserved by the U.S. Library of Congress, The British Film Institute’s (BFI) 100 Greatest Films, and on and on.
The following list from BFI is not that sort of list. Not at all.
Each of these films is one of the greatest according to just one voter in our recent Greatest Films of All Time poll; they are some of the hidden gems among the more than 4,300 films voted for by more than 2,000 participants. (For the pedantic reader, the films that got one vote each – more than we can fit in here – are all technically joint 1,956th greatest film of all time, combining the tallies of our critics’ and directors’ polls.)

Effectively, that’s a list of 101 movies which all tied for last place, in list of the top 2,000-or-so movies. Above, the BFI is showing an entirely different way to be surprised and delighted (and possibly intrigued and befuddled): Find one person who is into the thing way more than you, and ask them for a list of the greatest. On their list, it is likely there will be one which they recommend, that no one else would recommend. What is up with that one recommendation?
Any big list is created by many people collaborating and, in the end, averaging out their individual tastes. But if you ask that one really-into-it person, you’ll get a very surprising and delightful (and probably intriguing and befuddling) opinion.
