Honestly a bit gutted to hear that Pocket is closing. I use it all the time to save links & return to them. Does anybody know of any good alternatives?

Can anybody help me identify a short story? Think it is by JG Ballard or possibly Philip K Dick.
A man gets in from work after spending ages on the clogged freeway, and talks to his wife about possibly buying a new car. Everybody needs to replace their car every 2-3 months because of how quickly they degrade.
Anybody recognise it?

Overheard a lad on the bus refusing to tell his mate who his favourite singer was because, and I quote, "I think it's really reductive to say you have a favourite band"
Got to love living in a University town sometimes

Life-changing vegan thali from Anand Sweets in Leeds today.
Three curries, bread, rice, pickles, and a dessert, all for an extremely bargainous £8!
Excellent food at excellent prices like this make me glad to be a Northerner. You wouldn't get a bargain like this down south

I've been in Nidderdale again today, my favourite of all the Dales. My walk today was part of the Six Dales Trail up to the reservoir, then a bridleway back into Pateley Bridge.
And I saw some top quality moss while I was up there, as well.

FINALLY got paid for a piece of work I did 3 months ago, after submitting a claim to the small claims court.
Got a slightly panicked email from the late payee today asking whether I will now drop the claim.
Pretty tempting to just ignore the email for 2 months, then send a reply reading "Sorry, I don't have any record of this in my system"

Did you somehow, completely inexplicably, miss the in person performance of my new audio play The Lost And The Living?
Well FEAR NOT, for you can join the virtual audience here with the 'listen again' function on the Chapel FM website.
I'll be interested to hear your comments and thoughts about the story of Harriet and Violet, and their efforts to guide people safely to the afterlife.

There are always those moments in the writer's life when you think you won't have any more interesting thoughts, and that you've said the last interesting thing you'll ever say. Best of all, these moments always seem to happen in the middle of the night, when you're trying to sleep.

Tips From The Submissions Pile:
I’ve just read 100 pieces of short fiction, and here are some common shortcomings and weird coincidences that I discovered in the Submissions queue:

Shout out to the person that pointed out that
breadsticks + chocolate hazelnut spread
= 'sophisticated' choc dip, for adults

TRIANGLE OF SADNESS has had mixed reviews, but I LOVED it. Yes, parts of it are a bit on the nose, but its skewering of extreme privilege and wealth-hoarding are brilliant: I loved how it satirised billionaires' lack of actual life skills, and its barbs about narrow beauty standards.
it's a really funny film, and Woody Harrelson is great in it. 9/10

My favourite spooky stones that I've seen recently. Can't beat a good spooky stone.

Absolutely fair play to that seal trapped in the lake in Norfolk who is eating all of the fish stocks. Would-be rescuers are apparently puzzled as to why he's 'resisting all rescue attempts'.
Absolutely fair play to him, blubbery king of the island.

Idea for an art prank: go into nearest Waterstones, take dust jacket off all copies off Prince Harry's book, hide copies of Guest (own novel) inside.
Successfully sell millions of copies of own book, develop rabid new fanbase quickly & easily.
I think this might be my best marketing idea ever.
