Maybe this already happens? But from Austrians' politicians point of view it's probably more important that neutrality is very popular in #Austria
I just wish we had a honest discussion about it. Basically, because neutral Austria became surrounded by #NATO countries over the last decades, many assume that we will be fine anyway.

I think it's clear that the selfish way Austria (and also #Switzerland) currently defines its neutrality is bad for PR in other countries. If Austria wants to take part in something, neutrality is not a problem, but if the government does not want to take part in an initiative, it's "Oh no, we're neutral".

I agree that our language should be plain.

    • Nation-states do not reimburse debt. (They restructure it.)
    • Nation-states can obtain funding by issuing they own money (or credit).
    • Nation-states invest or spend as much as they want by issuing they own money (or credit).

  5. This is where #Mastodon and #fediverse show their importance - we cannot have one #monopolized social network. But we can have an interoperable #federated network of social networks that talk to each other. So that we all have a choice without nuking the whole idea and convenience of #socialnetworks. mas.to/@Andii/1106898644091131

I think that this may be proof that
    a) MMT is right and
    b) those government know it.

And it implicitly suggests that they don't want us to join the dots to realise we could use money creation powers for good and not just killing people and wreaking bullysome havoc on the world.

May I add, that #Signal backups are encrypted by default...

  8. I muse: how conservative Christians don't seem to argue, on the basis of #Psalm 90:10, that human lives should be terminated at age 80.
Now I'm not arguing they should be, but the text does make a basis for it which is stronger than for many of the positions they hold and claim are biblical.

Got me thinking ... The apparent lack of action on what appear to be credible concerns .... It's enough to make one think it must be a conspiracy theory... And yet .... What if it does indeed delineate a treasonous operation? ... What keeps the dam from bursting?

The issue seems to be ... "dentists were being left with no choice because the current contract, which is now 20 years old, meant dentists were struggling to make money working for the health service.
The union said the sums that could be earned in the private sector for things like new patient exams, fillings and extractions were twice what the NHS paid."

  13. ''Medicine... the perfect market. Patients cannot judge treatment quality... qualified to do so. Decisions are made urgently... often emotional. Illness cannot be delayed... it's there right in front of us, affecting us, or our loved ones. And doctors hold trusted authority, but they and the services that they can deliver are in restricted supply. That combination creates enormous pricing power for Big Pharma, even within the NHS"

  14. "markets apparently realised that AI might be able to eliminate most financial services advisors because all that will be required to determine optimal investment portfolio holdings will be a person's tax return, portfolio details and a database of tax legislation and out will come a report in seconds, shattering the myth that there is very much expertise involved in supposed investment optimisation routines."

why is RLNI a charity rather than something like fire and rescue?

  16. ''Should AI, for example, face energy rationing? Why not? It's creating the energy shortage.   Why should they have a right to energy when real-life human beings may not get it?Should data centres pay the additional costs that they will be imposing upon energy systems? Why not?   They want the profits; they should pay the costs. "

  17. ''North Sea oil and gas revenues surged just as what looked like a government-generated recession hit. Rather than being used to modernise British manufacturing, rebuild infrastructure, or create sovereign wealth for future generations, oil and gas revenues were channelled into funding mass unemployment, cutting taxes for the wealthy, .... Britain burned its future to fund the anti-socialist neoliberal project. "

  22. "...We must become the kinds of people who resist the seductive power of dehumanization. We must walk in proximity to and in presence with those we’ve been trained to fear. We must tell the truth about how power has been hoarded and whom it has hurt. We must become ambassadors of peace, not just in word, but in body.
And we must pray. Because what we’re facing is not just a political divide. It is the stuff of powers and principalities that require deliverance."

Other Labour MPs must take her resignation as a sign of the principled path to take in confronting the disability cuts for the devastation that they will cause. 26. Whatever happened to the 'British values' I was brought up on?
Things like playing fair (a metaphor for public and private life); rooting for and helping the underdog (especially by making things fair, mitigating unfair advantages etc); levelling down the proud and contemptuous mighty.
It seems like those British values have been insidiously sidelined since ... oh, .... the 1980s?
