Day for sitting next to the river

We walked 10km along the Yarra today. It was a few kilometres further than I had intended but I hadn't taken into account a 3km bulge in the walk because of the bendy, wendy Yarra River.
This week was the first week I have done exercise since my surgery four weeks ago. I did two walks of about 2.5 km each this week as well as this long one. I have definitely lost fitness but I am pleased that I have been able to do this much.
The weather is glorious in Melbourne today so it was a great day for it. I have now walked the Yarra from Docklands to Fairfield. When the weather gets warmer I must get my bike fixed and start riding the Yarra River and Gardiner's Creek bike trails.

#Warburton is beautiful this time of year.
This is a pic of a public garden aligning the #YarraRiver on a cool #autumn day.
Cloudy, overcast and around 15 degree’s C (60F). Pretty cold, but I’m welcoming the change of season with open arms given the obvious ‘visual’ spoils on offer!

A lone and late blooming orange flower, alongside the flowing waters of the #YarraRiver, #Warburton #Australia.
My bud @Witchy_Minx tells it’s a #Freesia.
She mentioned at the time they normally bloom mid to late October. Now is the time to be planting the bulbs, so they flower in the Spring.
This one’s obviously a ring-in!

The boys and I just visited #QueenVictoriaGardens near the #YarraRiver, #Melbournes central business district and arts precinct.
And we were treated to a wonderland of colour. One place of beauty was the flowering clock.
I posted pics from an earlier visit here a few weeks back, but since then, the burst of colour has become more vibrant after this awesome warm, sunny weather.
I’m glad we returned to share this colourful display.

#queenvictoriagardens in #Melbourne sees this lovely recreational area for visitors, city workers and residents at the moment.
I guess it’s like a gazebo or large coverage from the summer heat.
The vivid colour caught my eye and it seems many were taking shelter from the suns rays and enjoying the majestic colours and shapes if it’s construction. I sure did.
Just a stroll from the #yarrariver and 10 min walk from the edge of the central business district.

It’s always adorned with flowering colour and is definitely a go-to for tourists and locals alike.
The location is perfect because it’s near #FlindersStreetStation, the #ArtsCentre and the #NGV and it’s nestled alongside our iconic #YarraRiver.
There’s always plenty of picture snappers that visit this vibrant and popular tourist attraction.

I love this new #melbourne #Australia skyscraper, it’s delightful.
‘Australia 108’ is a residential supertall skyscraper located in the #Southbank precinct.
It consists of a 316 metre (1,039 ft) tall apartment building with 1,105 apartments over 100 floors.
Construction commenced in 2015, and was completed in 2020.
The aesthetics of this modern-day building are appealing and IMO, it most definitely enhances Melbourne’s skyline.

Nature appreciation shots from #melbourne - at our lovely #BottanicalGarden which is south of the #yarrariver and skirts the city central business district.
It was founded in 1846 on reserved lands.
These beautiful gardens extend across 38 hectares (94 acres) that slope to the river with trees, garden beds, lakes and lawns. It displays almost 50,000 individual plants representing 8,500 different species.
A regular visiting spot for many #Melburnians

Went for a walk along the Merri Creek today. Near the confluence with the Yarra, I spotted a couple of large lizards sunning themselves. They seemed pretty relaxed about me being getting closer gradually until I was within about two metres, and taking photos the whole time with my phone. It was in a fenced-off area with a gate that has a "No dogs" sign, so I guess they've learned to be relaxed about predators / people.
Can anyone help identify the species? My guess is some sort of Water Dragon. Absolutely gorgeous!
