Eastern Water Dragon we saw this afternoon while on a walk, near the confluence of the Merri Creek and Yarra River. Those colours and stripes are such a wonderful camouflage, so I think I was lucky to notice it when it moved.

I got a new bike! Because it's such a beautiful day in #Melbourne I took it for a ride all the way up the Merri Creek trail.
It was a lovely ride to follow but wow it really just gets to the other side of the M80 and stops with no way forward.
Would anyone know how to get to Campbellfield from there? I'd like to visit friends who live there but there's no way I'm taking a pushbike onto the M80 or Mahoney's Rd.
What wattle?

a friend on the coast like this person has befriended the “flying stilleto” #magpies; & a neighbour across the road feeds a flock daily.
While around they hassle out the colonising #Mynah birds who invade area and harass any other small birds like #Pardalote and #wagtail
Living near #MerriCreek annual nesting season soon and some magpies will swoop some passers-by

Left the hospital as a visitor and stepped off a north bound tram to cross over the very busy and noisy Sydney Road .. to enjoy the calm on a longer, but scenic pedestrian route home; along the shared with bicycles pathway next to #MerriCreek
Almost startled a water bird (heron?) on a rock mid-stream; so kept my distance. (Shadow in photograph is from overhead cycle & pedestrian bridge)

The days start to lengthen around the peak of #guling (the #woiwurrung name for #orchid season), Tree Violet flowers open and emit strong perfume. Unusually, the tiny pale yellow flowers grow directly on the stems, covering the branches with hundreds of little bells.
