#xenials — Public Fediverse posts

I assume anyone around my age (Born 1975-1985 (sometimes referred to as #xenials)) has had to explain to parents that a #chatroom is not that much different to having a #penpal, only much faster. (And not being believed.)

And how #connections made on the #internet can be proper #friendships. (And not being believed.)

And that #games actually can have #value. (And not being believed.)

Certainly there are games that are purely for fun, but there are whole #genres out there which specifically revolve around #problemsolving. SimCity, Portal, Factorio come to mind and pretty much every #factory or #logistics game trains that mental muscle.

Today I got blank looks from three #engineer (in the physical sense) when trying to explain that such games actually train and educate people - in a FUN way - BEFORE they go and mess around in your IRL system. Because they could #experiment in a forgiving environment and #learn from that.
