  1. #WTFUX #voting

    (via NYT)

But a 2016 investigation by The Los Angeles Times found that many people who registered as American Independent Party voters had checked that box thinking they were registering as independents.

The list of people who had mistakenly registered with the American Independent Party included the actresses Emma Stone and Demi Moore; the owner of The Los Angeles Times, Patrick Soon-Shiong; and Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of Gov. Gavin Newsom.

  2. I might not hate whatever "AI Suggestions" just added (for me, today or yesterday) in Google search if they didn't have a delay, and an animation, and a different background color. That little delay while it fills in is so incredibly brain-aggravating and I am sure not necessary. #WTFUX

  3. Trying to share some saved images from Houzz, see you all in about a week, #WTFUX

  4. I got this survey on Instagram the other day. I have abso-LUTELY zero idea what Popsmith is, so what does the survey writer expect as a response here? Or are they actually trying to test interest based on the name alone? I suspect sloppy more than clever (and I am not sure how useful that so-called-by-me-least-clever approach would even be). #WTFUX #BadSurveys #UserResearch

  5. Scheduling my bill payments earlier than their due date just so I hopefully don't get that email saying "your payment is due tomorrow" that makes me have to log on and check whether or not I actually made the payment (I always have, but I always worry when I see that email). #WTFUX

  6. Today in #WTFUX, I saw an Instagram photo dump (e.g. without specific context) showing a voice-activated paper towel dispenser with a ridiculous sticker explaining you need to say "paper towel now" and Googled to find out that's it's a prank sticker. You can buy these stickers and put 'em in public bathrooms to mess with people.

  7. I would love to know how Bellroy arrived at this list of UK subdivisions in their checkout process 😂 #wtfux

(for non-UK folk: England, Scotland, Northern Ireland + Wales are countries; Cambridgeshire, Cornwall, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Kent, Oxfordshire, Somerset, Surrey, and West Sussex are counties within England; and Richmond-upon-Thames is a town of ~200k in the south-west of London, which is also an option)

  8. Pretty useless of Wells Fargo to have branch specific pages that indicate that their ATM "hours vary" - I know that, that's why I'm looking at the page but you won't tell me if I can access the machine? #WTFUX

  9. TFW you realize Zoom doesn't (by default? always?) capture shared screen in call recordings. #WTFUX #FAIL #UserResearch

  10. Kaiser RECENTLY redesigned their appointment flow with this very weird widget, adding the number of appointments you want to make as like the first thing you tell them (using the "add number of guests/passengers" increment/decrement widget.

  11. CW: Hey, what did they tell the hype woman to do at the Bonne Maman annual conference?

@danhon umm, now there's an additional "field" in Mastodon? Your toot ended up in my toot? And in composing this reply i see three boxes - the toot I'm responding to, a one line box with your joke, and the text box I'm composing in.

  12. Scammy Conde Nast renewal email for The New Yorker that just asks me to "confirm" my account but sneaks in the fact that by doing so I'm actually "renewing" and there's no price listed in the email.

  13. @spydergrrl I was looking for these yesterday too. WaPo had an article yesterday about some of the weird ones like an app to analyze your pee at home.

  14. @heydon It could be either. I think On.

All 2-state controls potentially have the same problem. When you have more than that you can intuit which one is selected but when there is only 2...

  15. You would probably not be surprised to hear that the :dumpsterfire: formally known as Twitter's new checkmarks are not accessible. They differ by color only which makes them hard to detect by users who are color blind.
